Cup Car Question
From what I can find $75K to $150K pending year (997 Cup), engine and tranny hours, history etc. As the new teams upgrade to the 2011 Cup I fully expect to find a good 07 or so in the $80K range, but that may take a year to find the perfect car. This 09 posted here looks amazing...!!!
They can tell you how many hours on the existing motor and how may hours on the car.
Also they can tell you if there have been any over revs.
There are some other shops that can read them, but it is an expensive piece of hardware.
PS make sure that no one breaks the seal.
+1 on GMG, they have been an incredible source for information and parts.
Here is an example: I am up at Miller running in the Pirelli series when we notice a power steering line leak.
NO ONE i mean NO ONE has ever seen this line leak before, and unfortunately PMNA does not have their truck there.
GMG goes and pulls the line off one of their customers car (with their permission) and gives it to my mechanic so we can finish the weekend!!
Great guys and a class act.

Congrats! Looks like a great, clean car. Have you driven it yet?
per GT Gears... keep it stock and learn to drive it (it's a different animal vs. street car). Nothing worse than seeing slow cup cars at driving events, races, etc. Also, keeping it stock will allow easier re-sale once you're done exploring the race car itch. It's very competitive stock in all PCA/POC and other cup series. All you need to do is invest in new tires, pad, rotors and general maintenance. I've never really seen anyone mod a cup... unless doing World Challenge or a series that allows some upgrades (brakes, more displacement, exhaust, etc). GMG does this with their WC cups. But those cars can't run in any other series.. Although James does a few club events in GT1 (unlimited class).
I would also ensure your shop specializes in these cars. Based on that video... any shop that wants to start chopping the car to "cut weight", might not be the best choice.. as a GT3 Cup is a spec race car designed for the "budget racer". Keep in mind, budget is a relative term. haha. But the car is what it is for a reason. In addition, removing any mufflers (straight pipe) will create a dead zone in the powerband. Stock system makes good power across the band. Less muffler = less mid-range torgue... only gives you a bit more HP at the last 250 or so RPM.
I use GMG for my support and they are first class. I would suggest following up Fabryce's post and email them. At least they can point you in the right direction to get you started on your new racing endeavor.
Enjoy and keep us posted! Looking forward to reading your first drive!

Not to go off topic, but I have to ask. How do you decide what to drive when you get up in the morning??? That is an incredible stable of fine automobiles.

I'm just in awe of that car! It sounded fantastic in the video! Can't wait to see your first impression of driving it. Though I've never driven one, I have seen enough videos of them on the track to give you one piece of advice...Make sure the tires are nice and warm before you really start to explore the capabilities of the car. I've seen way too many videos posted of people trying to get into it deep before the tires are warm and they either spin it or put it into a wall. On real race cars, that makes a huge difference in how they handle! I think it was Excellence that did a comparison between a cup car and a GT3 or GT2 and the street car was faster around the track for the first lap, but once the tires were heated up, it was no comparison, they weren't even in the same league.

LOL. The chopping comment was a joke. You had to be there. We were jacking with the Tech in the car.
I have been emailing James all day and yesterday. GMG is class and I have enjoyed everything I've ever bought from them. They do stuff for what I like. FASTER.
Car officially has 11.6 hours.
As to what I drive, I always drive the Ford. Or my new lifted Jeep. It's a TEXAS thang.
