guys, looking for your thoughts and rationale on best location for fire extinguisher and why for gt3rs. In front of driver seat? passenger seat? on my rollbar?
realize that reaching it is important in unexpected circumstances of course.
Also...where to buy?

I kinda think they're unnecessary. I've been racing in SCCA for almost 20 years and never needed the one that I'm required to have. I see even less use for one at an HPDE.
Just my $.02.

I have mine in front of the driver's seat. I wouldn't place it in front of the passenger's seat for two reasons. 1. You cannot reach it with a harness on. 2. Passengers will kick it every single time they get in and out, because they are not used to having anything in that location.
Competition Components sells some VERY nice billet fire extinguishers, if you want something super nice. It is not cheap though. You can buy more common versions for much less. It just depends on what you are going for.

Couldn't disagree more. In the last 3 years I've used mine twice on friends cars at the track. Placement in car is really personal choice, because if your car catches fire, firs thing your doing is getting out! If you RS is an '10 or '11 there is no mount for passsenger side, so options are either drivers side or rollbar. I chose driver side with safecraft FE and quick release and a Bray Krause Mount. On an 07'-08 RS, if your running the Euro Sport seats, bray krause will work on passenger side
I agree with the comments about storing one at the leading edge of the drivers seat - due to the harness issue and riders not taking care when getting in and out of the car.
But I'd also recommend when selecting a fire extinguisher that you get the right compound in the device. Safecraft makes the best ones in my view. Finally, extinguishers now come in a variety of colors but I'd suggest sticking with the time tested red. Why? In case of a fire and someone is coming to help, they will recognize a red one in a tense and smokey environment while a black or chrome one just looks like part of the car.

P.S. I have no relationship of any type with the Safecraft folks.
