How do you guys deal with the idiots?
1. Slow down
2. Get them to pull up next to you
3. Blow them a kiss followed by some lurid tongue gesture
In most cases That should take care of the issue. In some cases you will make a new friend

Perhaps it is just me... I have rarely had this problem and I have been driving performance cars since I was 17. Now I am in my 60s and when I am in the GT2 they seem intimidated or realize I am driving a genuine mature crazy man's car [which it is, compared to almost everything else out there]. I go out of my way to be friendly to people who notice it as people almost run away when I walk up when they are looking at it.
I was recently driving my modded 930. Suddenly I am getting smiles from youngish and attractive women. Is it something like they are glad for me that I am still alive?... That I can still enjoy this thing?... That I look silly driving it now?... That they think I am driving my son's car????? Whatever it is, it beats the H outta some guy trying to impress or race with me.
Then, for a complete change of pace I drive my wife's 987S. Nice car. Tip... tee hee. Leave it in automatic and it starts off in 2nd gear. I laugh, 'cause it sounds like I am 16 again and driving my mom's automatic Corvair. [I used to street race then. My favorite was to choose off against some kid in his dad's hot car. They would always rev it, dump the clutch, and spin the tires forever. My mom's 82Hp, 2 speed automatic Corvair would usually stay with them until they had to shut down. I didn't make many friends when they realized I was making a fool of them but it sure was FUN. BTW, for all the bad mouthing, the 987S/Tip is a far better car than any of the mag writers understand. It is proving to be a nice performance surprise.
But, to answer the original question: Either ignore them or just give them a friendly smile AND absolutely nothing else. The only thing I can remember doing other than that was roll my window down and [being nice] say "I don't street race". And.. really, I don't. I have had too many incidents SCCA road racing to know better than to tangle with an unknown driver on the street with innocents. No thanks.

It happened to me a few months back when a kid in a 370z revved up next to me and wanted to race. I simply rolled down my window and tell him maybe next time, I just came back from the track, then he left me alone.
i dont mind it too much if they come up next to me and rev their engines or whatever. i either give a friendly wave or ignore them if they are being a ******bag.
what is infuriating and a bit scary at the same time are the people who try to provoke you by tailgating you or cutting you off, and then speeding off, barely in control of their car. don't take me or anyone else with you if you want to go kill yourself.

I was driving to dinner the other night with my son in my gt3 and some redneck in a turbodiesel pickup truck from hell came along side and spun his 40 inch tires and spewed more black smoke(from the exhaust) than a smoke stack from Jersey. He almost went off the bridge to Hilton Head into the intracoastal. Not funny. A year prior, on the same bridge, in my TPC supercharged 993, a young man came upon my lowly, old Porsche with his Saleen mustang, wife in passenger seat, i felt the urge. My wife was not happy, nor the teenager.
I suppose i have matured.

was drivin home at 10 30pm a few months back. going 70 . 0 traffic 101 freeway passing 405, a white e 90 m3 pulled up next to me .... had huge company name written on the car. i hardly ever drive it on the street. usually have r6's on it. i looked over and gave him a friendly casual wave. he revved his engine ... i thin proceed to slow down a bit so hell just pass me.. he slowed down... i slowed down to 50 and pulled over to the right.. he does the same.... a few minutes go by as we continue the pace. i try to ignore. eventually the guys revs again and takes off 100 mph. im guestimating. i get off on my exit and see the guy at the bottom of the exit(red light turning left)... most likely a coincidence . i make a right he decides to back up and follow me. now im getting mad. my house is a few blocks down. i dont want him following me there. so i had to do a few thing to loose him... i guess people just dont take no for an answer.
ps. forgot to add i went to a track day after that and think i saw the same car... i was lapping them at big willow like nothing..

I drive one of those lowly ricer cars but when I see a GT3 or similar, and they're driving slowly and I genuinely need to pass (in a hurry), I will slow down and pass slowly so they don't think I'm trying to race them, lol. Also I try and catch their eye and do some sort of enthusiastic hand gesture like a thumbs up to let them know I like their car
I usually give them a sign that I appreciate they are car buffs (thumbs up or whatever) and keep rollin. Most of those guys want to see what our cars can do, which there is a time and place for - which is not on public streets.
I love when I lap an Evo or something on the track after my 6th lap

I've had two distinct type of interactions in the short time I've owned the car:
1. True enthusiasts who too dream of ownership (this has been the majority). They pull up, say something complimentary. One young guy with an attractive girlfriend asked ever so politely if I would take it to redline so he could hear it sing. I happily obliged. It reminded me how lucky I am to own this car.
2. Complete dooshbags who want to race. I usually ignore them. In the event they don't get the hint, my wife gave me the perfect response: the universal "small *****" finger gesture. I've had to disappear after a couple of those as those types tend not to be amused by it

You get yelled some compliments and requests for revs at the lights, I try to be polite and comply, but I then must drive extra slow to not excite some idiots to do something crazy.
The scariest ones are the ones that want to show they can go fast or something and take off weaving through traffic and almost lose it about to crash into cars.. I always slow down and wave them off, some I'm sure want to hear the car and maybe take a picture, but some are about to kill someone.
Another concideration is that the local Palm Beach police drives in undercover cars like Mustangs and Chargers, but they are not stock, they look like the real deal and they are actually instigating other go fast cars into breaking the law. They switch cars a lot, I know one yellow Mustang GT for a while and I always hoped he picked me so I could call 911 to tell the operator the license plate and that I am scared to stop, maybe I even think I see a gun waved; See what happens..
