AudiOn19s is infamous around these parts
My wife has driven our M3, 996 and GT3 on track. Each one just 1-2 times. While she enjoyed the experience and did take things away from it each time she's not hooked and doesn't feel the need to do track days on a regular basis. She does enjoy driving the car to her / it's limits in a controlled setting just to see what it's all about.

It's the instructor's job to keep each student within their abilities. As long as she's got someone in the passenger seat that's worth a darn she should be just fine....so should your car.

FWIW, My wife doesn't drive the GT3 anymore during track season...she can't see over the steering wheel with the euro / fixed seats in the car and doesn't want to be embarassed if people found out she had to use a booster seat. I put the regular drivers seat back in the car for her otherwise. She drives it on the street much more than I do.

I say DO IT! My wife and I have been driving for like 10 years together. She's driven the '74 911 and currently drives the GT3. She was driving while pregnant at Pocono back in '95 and drove while our kids were growing up. We use to take turns with the stroller. I'll have my helmet on, she'll get out of the car, hold the stroller and I'll jump back in the car and drive my session.

We now have a motor home and pretty much live at the track while doing DEs. She enjoys watching F1 and knows about oversteering/understeering and has pretty good car control. She compares the 74 vs the GT3 as a typewriter vs. a word processor! Good analogy.

As an instructor, I get to go out with her on track and point out where I am or what I do on specific part of the track. I'm proud of her since she holds her own. She might not be the fastest or most aggressive, but she has fun while doing it. And that is what is all about! And the skills she learns on track directly apply to every day driving situations.

Awesome. I do think it is great when our wives show an interest and skill in a car/hobby/pursuit that has been considered a man's domain. I have to admit that I recently got a little rise as I followed my wife driving my gt3 to a local restaurant and a group of college guys tried to keep up with her. At the light I overheard them saying " check out the MILF in the Porsche" I did not tell her, but she knew.

I think it's awesome she wants to drive the car and participate like that, I would love to have a wife like that someday and if you be patient with her she will learn even if it's slowly. At the end of the day, if you're there guiding her and it's in a safe environment there's not much that can go wrong. I mean which is more important, her having fun, which she will do safely if it's progressively, or the car, which at the end of the day is only material. I'm not saying screw the car as long as she has fun, I'm just saying what could go wrong of it's a safe environment and you're there for guidance.
