4.0 Intake on 3.8

Does it make sense to put the 4.0 intakes on a 3.8L RS? I am just thinking out loud and wondering. What do you guys think?

It looks cool. I don't think you would see any performance improvement at all.

most likely just a loss in gas mileage as the computer supplied more fuel to compensate for a slightly leaner mixture...if the motor was built like US FINA motors with restricted intakes and exhausts it could make some difference combined with a less restricted exhaust...but these motors are pretty much maxxed out stock..I doubt if even a tune to optimize a/f ratio would squeeze enough to make it worthwile....if you do it please document it well with dyno before and after

Hmm. I switched to the 3.8 RS box on my 2007 GT3. I should probably remap.

I don't see any need unless the stock air box was more restrictive than the intake, which I doubt...even tho the box may have less restriction than your stock air box and provide a cooler air charge the intake is the same as it was before and will only pass so much air...shouldn't upset your a/f ratio at all

the latest magazine I got detailed really well all the R&D Porsche did on the 4.0. I believe the bigger intake only worked on the larger motor. Other than looking cool, I have no idea why spend $4k on a carbon fiber box intake.
