What HELMET are you wearing for track days?

I have always used my ARAI motorcycle helmet but I was told by one track that it is not suited for cars and in the future I need a helmet made for cars.

Since this is where the track guys are I was wondering what are you guys using and what do you recommend?

Arai GP5W, if Arai fits your head suggest Arai or one of the other "long" shaped (vice "round") helmets.

An open visor helmet is less restrictive, has better cooling and allows for better side and downward visibility without having to move the head.

Take it from me Arai is the only way to go, for IndyCar I use the GP6, but as the guys above were saying the GP5 is great and definitely enough! Let me know if you have any questions!

Arai, stillo, stand 21, bell. Plenty of other manufactures out there. What's your budget?

Arai has been my choice of Motorcycle helmets since I was 16. Wanted one for the car, but ended up with a OMP "Speed" with a Peak Visor. Fit is great and I saved a few bucks as well.

Using HJC SI-12. One of the lightest helmets for the price.

Bell works well. I Just recieved my new helmet few days ago. I looked at almost every one. Had I not went with the Bell i think i would have bought a Arai. Also I have to recomend a second visor, If it comes with a clear visor, Also get yourself a dark one for sunny days. I suppose you Could use sunglasses but why bother. I would also look into a hanz neck device, this is the next thing on my shopping list. The helmet and neck device kinda go hand and hanz.
Good luck.

Bell. Highly recommend taking a trip out to Werks II as they stock a ton of different brands and styles. I tried several until I found one that felt just right.

^^^ I highly advise this approach as well.

"...taking a trip out to Werks II as they stock a ton of different brands and styles. I tried several until I found one that felt just right. "

I went to Wine Country Motorsports, Infineon. They have just about every brand and size available to try on and compare. Thus, OMP in my case after trying several on.

it really depends on your use. for me, 1-2 DE non timed event hardly posses risks. i have a pyrotec open face. if i were in timed or competition events, i would get a closed face arai.

I posted a few links in here, there are soo many thread on the board of different options. It was almost daunting for me when trying to choose one. Bell has about 25 different ones. Abit of research and your good to go.

There is only one, Arai. I have always worn them on motorcycle track days and have been unfortunate enough to have put one to the test straight into the ground at 70 mph!! Totaled bike, helmet, leathers, broken bones, but no head damage (although don't think my wife would agree, lol!!)
