TPC Racing Gears Up for 2012 Race Season
TPC Racing Gears Up for 2012 Race Season
After just getting back from testing at Sebring, TPC Racing is ready to get the 2012 season started. We will be running in the Porsche IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Presented by Yokohama and also the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Canadian Series Presented by Michelin. We be running our 2008 GT3 Cup again in the Gold Class with Michael Levitas behind the wheel. Michael will run both the US GT3 Cup Challenge and also the Canadian Series.
In the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Canadian Series, they run the same classes as the US, Platinum for the 2010-2012 Cup Car, Gold for the 2005 1/2 - 2009 Cup Cars and also they run a Silver class for the 996 Cup Car. Over the off season, we picked up four 996 Cups that will be running in the series. TPC Racing has had great success with the 996 GT3 Cup platform and we have won many races and championships with the 996.
At Sebring, we entered the PCA DE and Club Races to get the most amount of track time possible for car setup. Randy Pobst will be joining us for the season as a coach and also for car setup. It is great to have Randy at the track with us again. He provides great information about car setup and also is an amazing coach. Randy helped Mike as well as two of our 996 Cup drivers we had out, Leho Poldmae and Brian Walsh. As the weekend progressed, we made several changes to the cars and the drivers all worked with Randy and improved tremendously.
Our 996 Cup Cars will not race at Sebring, so we focused a lot on car setup with the 36 car that Mike will be driving. We made a lot of changes, including staying at the track until midnight changing the entire suspension and geometry of the car. After the changes, Mike and Randy both drove the car the next day and the lap times improved greatly. We were running the times that the leaders were running in Gold. TPC Racing has high hopes for the 2012 season and we are ready to start races one and two March 14-17!
