Difficult Choice! 997 GT2 vs 997.2 GT3 !
Had 2010 gt3rs. Bought 08 gt2
Best car decision I made.
Yes gt3 howles nicely. But all around the gt2 is so much more car. Street or track. Driven properly it will kill a 997 cup at the track. And you can still go on a date night with it.

Kill a 997 cup at the track? Stock? It's fast but nowhere near cup fast in stock form.
oooo
Wow..Teutonic! That's pretty strong statement to make!
I like what you say. I really lean more toward the GT2.
Yet many guys, including a mechanic from Porsche center - whom I consider an expert on all things Porsche, favor new (2010) 997.2 GT3 or RS, over the 997.1 GT2!!
Cheers!

Tomato will take the GT2 drop a few Gs in tune/performance upgrades and go scare up some Vipers and Vettes on the back roads. Nothing like the Kick of the turbos as you hold on for dear life and feel your eyeballs go towards the back of your cranium.
GT3s are very beautiful and special cars as well can't go wrong either way.
Let us know which route he takes.

I would be going through this decision next year or year after too. 997.1 GT2, 997.2 GT2 RS or 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8. I lean more towards the GT3 RS 3.8 because I track it more than street. But sometimes it's nice to take the wife out on a date in a sports car thats why the 997.1 GT2 or the 997.2 GT2 RS comes into the option. But the GT3 RS 3.8 can do that too.
That's a reason why the GT2's take a hit. I still think that street driving hard to beat a GT2, track time, REALLY hard to beat a GT3.
Even though if driven properly and built right, they can be a lot faster than the 3's, but again, not the same feeling as the ALL MOTOR Porsche

ZZZ,
About the price being low...See this link.

Owner complains that his GT2 2008, 3k miles, cost around $240k ! Can't find buyers for the asking circa $125,000!
In any event, as I said earlier, I agree, as EvilPanda just mentioned, the GT2 is certainly the better choice!
Thanks.

By the way the seller of this car took it off the market then later sold it for around 130k.
And even us GT2 owners, know that our cars have taken a hit. They were well above 200k new and they are now selling for under 140k, so they have taken a 60 to 70k hit in price with very low miles. Nothing to deny!

The reason the GT2 takes such a hit is because it's overpriced. It's not a 200k car. It's nothing more than the TT and GT3 technologies combined. It amazes me that people continuously hop into that bathtub. You might as well give away 100k. And that's without driving it. The used car market just tells how much the car is really worth relative to the GT3 and it's not 42% more.
One of our club members runs a modified 997 GT2 on track. Good luck trying to catch him in a street legal GT3/RS. That said, GT3's are wonderful machines, & preferred by many. Great choices to make.
