996 GT3 vs New 991 Carrera S (with vid)

For those wondering how the new 991 Carrera S stacks up against the older GT3 models, i can confirm that the answer is "pretty well".
The new 911 is amazing and seems to be just as quick in a straight line(maybe just a tad slower) vs the 996 GT3.

The 2004 GT3 still has a slight edge in terms of straight line speed though, but i believe that the new 911 is very quick around a track! SportAuto Magazine tested it at exactly the same lap time as the current GT3! (see attachment)

I went for a drive in it and it is just amazing how comfortable this car is and how effortless the performance is. A real winner. Awesome engine note too!

Here's a clip from a little run we did. Librarians beware: This vid contains driving above the speed limit on public roads.

So what you're saying is that the steering inputs/feedback on the 991 (electrically assisted) are just as precise and engaging to the driver as the hydrolic steering pre-991?

Nice video and love your seats in the car!

Maybe you and the other driver can line them up and do a 30 or 40 roll to get a better idea of the outcome.

You're going to get killed driving on the wrong side of the road.

We did, just didn't get it on video. 2nd gear roll, the GT3 was slightly quicker, by about 2 car lengths by the time we hit 4th gear

Sorry for the 8 month old thread revival, but I remember following this thread with interest a few months ago. Stumbled upon a new YT vid of a '6 GT3 vs 991S - shows some quite interesting results. Guy in the GT3 isn't shifting very quickly though.

Not surprising. I can keep up with a 6GT3 in my Cayman R.
