Anybody trade a TT for a GT3?
ray,
u know better no matter what u do to the TT u can't get the same steering on the GT3 & feeling of lightness. then u might end up a car that's not perfect for the track and too hardcore for the street. if u seriously thinking about a purpose built track car i suggest u to wait.

Yeah, my other option is to put some Motons on my TT (I have PSS9 now), and maybe a new rear sway bar just to button down the TT on the track a little more. I do like the torque and sure-footed feel of the TT, but the steering and lightness of the GT3 is oh so nice....
But, I have a feeling I will end up with a Cayman eventually.

Additionally, I bet the Cayman suspension isn't remotely as well sorted for the track as a bone stock GT3. As well, the Cayman doesn't have true dry sump. And there is always the "stay the hell away from at least the first if not first and second year Pcar" truism. Lastly the Cayman contradicts this desire of yours "A rear drive 911 is pretty fun at the track." The TT as a track car is hard on brakes and tires owing to pork.Fwiw, the Cayman will likely also have the seats with air bags in them (like all 05 911, Boxes) which will greatly complicate the addition of 64 lbs lighter and much better supporting/feedback providing, GT3 racing buckets. Installation of a roll bar is also gonna be a ***** - if even possible.

ben,
what's ur thought on Lotus since tons of them down in SD. sold mine & possibly waiting for the Exige. that is a perfect track car imo even it doesn't have close power to GT3 but it's a lot cheaper to play around. the money factor is the key.

build quality on the elise is pathetic (ur surely getting what you pay for on that elise/GT3 price delta). the car is so weak on torque that many tracks will leave you wanting - especially relative to a GT3. lastly, they are god awful uncomforable (size) - especially with two people. you have to have an intimate relationship with whomever is in the passenger seat. and, what an utter ***** to get in and out of - especially with the top on.
not a lot diff about the exige save for a fixed top and sport suspension stock. if you were to supercharge the elise, that would go a long way to fixing the torque deficiency but you'd still be left with the horrid size and build quality.
the new C6 Z06 is about the only other car i'd consider for a track beater over the GT3, but i'd have to drive one first.

that's true to a certain extent but the CGT is way more structurally rigid (allowing for true racing suspension without the attendant punishment - as well as better braking), has a much lower center of gravity, much more meaty contact patches, and much reduced unsprung weight - to go with 50% more power. GT3 would be my 2nd choice of all cars out there after the CGT as a track car.

I wish my dealers would turn over their guitar inventory as quickly as you turn over your cars!

Arling, what's the average time you have a car in your "inventory"?

I currently have a TT. Though about a GT3. The price was to good on the TT to pass up. It came with the X73 suspension. I added GT3 bars. Made a big difference in how the car handled. Got rid of that corner exit push and the car rotates well. I'm sure REAL shocks and springs would event help more.
My question is if the with the GT3 and GT2 suspension being similar, why not a GT2? The price is not that much more than a new GT3 and most GT2's don't have a lot of miles on them.
The TT is going up for sale in July so I'm trying to decide which direction to go. The GT2 power is addicting!
Have Fun! Steve
PS: I do have to say the Z06 for the money is a lot of fun to drive, Auto-X or track. The car is very balance right out of the box. I think the new C6-Z06 will be hard to beat for price and fun factor. It's no Porsche but they have improved the interior and the new engine spec's are very impressive.

what's wrong with the CGT Ray?
I just did a 4th track day in mine. I did eventually buy a GT3, But whenever I have a track day, I can't help myself - I have to take the CGT. It is so great, and I'm getting better with it. Wow, it is an addiction!I'm sure I will track the GT3 once in a while now (because it is a really great car too). It's more challenging to drive as well. Anyway, I thought I should add the "epilogue" to this thread.
