Too bad I can't give you more than 1 Rep Point for these. What gorgeous lines. I love that the intake slots remain rear of the doors, and really like to see how the exhaust exits have been integrated so clean.

thx man! i think the exhaust is one of the coolest things ever on a Porsche, i wonder if they placed it there because of a certain (better) air flow over the rear spoiler.

I think they purposely put the exhaust there so it would be at windshield level and if the competition ever gets too close, BAM, hit the switch and the motor goes Rich for a second, creating a smoke screen just long enough to discombobulate the opposing driver. Genius Porsche, GENIUS!!! lol

The exhaust was placed atop the engine for a couple of reasons:

1) lower CG by placing the engine lower
2) more effective removal of heat as well as keeping exhaust heat away from heat-sensitive LI batteries.

interesting! i wonder why no one has ever placed those outlets there before, but maybe it makes more/real sense now because of its hybrid system.
anyway, it looks badass!

P.S. if that´s the way hybrids of the future are going/looking i am totally down with that!

I realize that these 'spyshots' caught this car on a private road and all, but I live how Porsche is taking a non-traditional route with the 918 and giving all of us more insight into the development. I guess since the concept has already set some expectations, and all of the production ones are already spoken for (I think), I guess there's not as much need to maintain absolute secrecy while they are getting some very valuable exposure.

If they really wanted to keep the design as tight as can be, they would have put some of those crazy black/white zebra-skin stickers all over it. But the 'camoflauge' here doesn't do anything to hide the shape...it just plants more seeds for performance expectations.

Tramontana has exhaust outlet similar but not a production car (see bottom of the page)

There first concept car had the exhaust like the Viper, front of rear wheels, like the change.

I think they had to go up, otherwise the exhaust would cook a battery.
