I went went w/ PFC-08s and also had the fluid flushed and replaced w/ Castrol SRF. I ran the "new" brakes for the first time last weekend at Barber and I can only surmise that I have way too much braking power (and horsepower) for the Michelins. I'm going to have to run R-comps to get any enjoyment out of this car on the track. Shopping for tires, hitch, etc. Only money.

However, another question about the shims or "spiders." At Barber I noticed a clanking sound from the RF and found that the outboard pad was loose. I just got around to checking it out and see that upper and lower spiders are misssing ... so the pad rocks on the middle piston. Apparently the shop that did the brakes either lost the spiders or tore them up. I'll ask them to replace them, but I'm going to Mid-Ohio in 2 weeks and want to do something. I assume I should remove the remaining spider?

I've read that many people don't use the spiders at all, on track or street, so I removed the remaining one on my RF. Well, now it's worse - the pad is really loose in the caliper and makes all kind of embarrasing noise. Is this the way it should be w/o spiders? These pads have 1 DE on them and I would have thought they would be tight.

Ran Mid-Ohio this past weekend w/ new Nitto NT-01s and now the car brakes and handles like I knew it should.

But I now realize that the front retainer springs are missing, that is why the pads have been so loose.

How do you like the PFC-08's in combo with the NT-01's?

Mixing PS2's and PSS's is not a good idea at all. They are completely different types of tires and could be the source of your ABS woes. I would get the tires squared away before messing with the other stuff. Best,

Sorry, I susbcribed to my own thread but did not get a notification. :-/

I finally have good braking power, not to mention increased cornering ability. I've run the Nittos before and like them, good bang for the buck. But I haven't run them on this car w/ other pads so can't opine. I have 9 track days on them and am not sure they will last another event. Not too happy about that - do the Pagids last longer?
