Thinking of buying a Carrera GT need guidance
Test drove a GT today.... Shouldn't have done that as now I want to buy it!
Have not considered this car at all so did not get a chance to research the market. Big investment... Where is CGT market heading? Holding steady? Prices slipping?
What are some of the things to watch out for? Any know issues?
Finally, what has the owner's experience with these cars been like? Is it the type of car that never gets boring? I have owned a few P-cars and a few F-cars and tend to lose interest quickly and go through them which always costs $$$
So I am wondering if this substantial investment will be wise....
Any and all input will be greatly appreciated. PM if need be!

Seems as though the market has held incredibly strong over the years and I don't see it entering Enzo territory where yearly the price has steadily going up, but could see an uptick in value as more cars are going smaller displacement turbo/auto setups. I've driven one a few times before and they truly are one of the greatest vehicles I've ever driven. Can't see a car like that with it's body lines, engine note, and general feel of the steering/suspension becoming boring. If you do buy one, I'd say one of the first thing would be to put straight pipes on it. The one i've driven had them and truly can say it was a constant aural orgasm ever time I put even slightest pressure on the go pedal. My buddy's CGT he purchased new and has been the single constant vehicle he's kept(exotic wise) over those years(he's gone through in the neighborhood of 20 or more in that time frame, including an LP670-SV, SLR and a 599GTO if that says anything).
The one your looking at, what kind of mileage? color combo? price? etc. Hopefully we can give u a better idea of the value or lack of you'd be getting if you do venture into it.

The CGT is a sweet car, but is a car. It will depreciate, but if you aren't worried about that, get it.

if you got the money and the Ka$h.... by all means buy it and enjoy it..
you only live once and live is too short...
Prices for the CGT have seemed to have held pretty steady and actually have been climbing in the last year or so. Due to being the first and as far as I know, still the only Road-going Porsche to ever be manufactured by the Motorsport dept. and their exercise in CF technology among other first time (for a road car) technologies, this car will always have a collectability to them. Due to the incredible price tags for servicing (I heard oil changes were in the realm of $2500, but that could be false), few will be driven often and most probably find themselves residing in a collector's garage/hangar/living room as art. Truly amazing cars with a unique and intoxicating exhaust note. Depreciating has most likely already bottomed out during the "Great Recession" and now has climbed higher. Probably not the fastest way to grow your money, but if you're looking for a collectable car to enjoy that you wont lose money on, this is a good bet. If you have the means, I say DO IT!!!
I went and tried to check out this CGT in person last weekend, but it was being serviced. I spoke at length about the car with a few of the sales reps at Porsche of the Main Line as well as Maserati of the Main Line, who had nothing but great things to say about it. This example will be a great purchase for whoever is lucky enough to afford such a car.
After careful consideration and weighing things out, I have decided to pass at this time. The CGT did get my attention though and I will try to find a nice example in the near future. Thanks for the feedback guys.

I too was contemplating purchasing a Carrera GT this past spring. I spent four months researching prices, maintenance and such. I pulled the trigger in September on a 2005 with ONLY 600 miles from a private collection. I have put over 3000 miles in the past four months!
The car is beyond fantastic and I have owned and still own many cars. I race a 2000 GT3R/RSR in HSR and the CGT reminds me of it only its MUCH faster. Prices are DEFINITELY rising as cars I looked at in September that were 300k are now sold and simialr ones are now being advertised for 325-350k. The anticipated price and complexity of the upcoming 918 Spyder is causing this.
If you buy one you will NEVER regret it.
