Front lifter option 991GT3

Porsche is asking about $3500 for the option. Is the GT3 front end that low requiring this option. My 997.2TT did not have it and it was no problem other than scraping the rubber bottom piece which could be replaced for about $250.

I can't imagine the 991GT3 front end being lower than the 997GT3. Those of you who have the 997GT3 any thoughts?

A lot of people like the option, I personally wouldn't spec one with it.

Have you had problems with the lower front lip? Prior to the 997.2 TT, I owned several Ferrari's and did not have any real problems with the lower front.

I couldn't use mine without it. A definite must, the GT3 is a bit lower than the turbo too I think.

Arth is infamous around these parts
I didn't order mine with it for three reasons.

1. extra weight( though it being at he front might not be so bad)
2. cost is pretty high
3. would have delayed by build date from July to October and thus delaying delivery.

+ over here in the UAe we have great roads

I decided to not order the lifter. Based on my research, the front lip is no different than the 997GT3 and very similar to the 997.2TT. Invariably you will scrap the front end whether you have the lifter or not. On the TT the rubber piece did get its share of scraping but much of it could be covered over with an absorbent black creme used to protect black rubber pieces on other parts of the car.

FWIW, the rubber lip can be replaced cheaply and easily. More importantly, I do not stress over damage to replaceable parts.

It is a definite must! It wasn't available on my 2007 GT3 and I ruined my front spoiler which was a problem because it was body color. My 2010 has it and my front spoiler is still perfect.
