Totol Noob question

Yes, I did search forum but did not locate anything...

So, new purchase. I have about 100 miles on it since purchase.

When I park the vehicle it smells like burning rubber. I have investigated and it appears the smell is coming from the tires and the close proximity to the exhaust behind the rear tire... Is this correct and normal? Or should I be looking at something else to sort this out...? Perhaps the belt slipping or something? Everything seems to be running and operating as it should?

And no, I am not peeling out or doing 360 drift patterns in the school parking lots..

You are probably actually smelling oil, which is ok with a GT3. Let the car run at idle for a few minutes before turning it off when you can, especially after spirited runs.

If you've not experienced the black plume of smoke coming out upon startup - wait for it, and try not to faint. The GT3 has a little different oiling system than most are used to.

Check oil every once in awhile, and enjoy in good health!

Yea, I got the smoke part and doesn't concern me much since I have had that with the other P's I have owned... Last night after a spirited run on the "Cloverleaf" on and off ramp to the freeway, Parked in the garage, came back out and it smelled like I had done peel-outs in my garage.. Very familiar with the distinct rubber burring smell... My guess is tire residue hitting the muffler right behind the wheel, but i am merely a shade tree mechanic when it comes to these cars.. Could tear any muscle car apart.. Not that confident on these yet..

Guess I am trying to figure out if I have made an accurate interpretation of where the smell is coming from or possible the Serpentine belt. Appears to be original but who knows. Only 7K on the car so I have gone ahead and ordered a new one from P dealer... Gotta figure out how to get it on there. Looks challenging.

I assume you can replace it without taking the car apart

I have not replaced that belt yet but believe that once you remove the air box you have access.

Removed airbox and replaced over weekend. Fairly easy job.. The belt looked fine but when I had the old belt off you can really see how bad it was. The teeth of the belt were about half the size of the new belt. Put on an OEM belt. Everything seems to be working with no problems on my 25 Mile loop.
