OT: got blame for an accident when I'm the victim.
Had an accident this past Monday. An idiot backed his car into my car (not the rs luckily). He has the ***** to say I blew the stop sign and hit him. What a lowlife and liar!!!
Unfortunately no witness. Still waiting for the police report.
Sorry for the ranting.

Good luck on that one. I had a similar experience and it went against me. Very frustrating. It almost make the Russian dash cams appealing.
I would talk to dealer to see given the impact if the car kept any "black box" data.

Several years ago a bicycle ran a red light and hit me on my driver side door. People gathered around the guy, ambulance was called in while I heard some people mentioning me hitting the guy
The scum bag was taken to ER where I had just finsihed my rotation (resident) and was discharged home after being attended for a dislocated shoulder.
Few months later my premium went up as I found out he was awarded $13,000 for his pain and suffering
Only in NYC
Hope things work out for ya.

People can say anything they want at an accident site so do not let that bother you. More on this below.
Generally, if one car is fully in its lane and another car impacts this car the car that is in the lane is not at fault.
I mean say your backing out of a parking space. If you are backing out but not fully out in to the drive/lane and you hit someone that's your fault even if they advance when common sense says they shouldn't.
But if you have backed out and your car has all 4 wheels in the drive/lan and the two cars make contact that's the other driver's fault.
At least this is the way it was explained to me.
You have to consider the circumstances of the accident.
I hope you took lots of pics. I always take pics of the accident scene, where the vehicles ended up, any skid marks, landmarks to be able to place the cars later when no one is around, the road conditions, lane markings, and so on.
Thirty or more pics I can end up with.
For instance when another driver ran through an intersection and smashed into my car (4 week old Cayman S).
We were going on opposite directions but the other driver was on the phone missed her turn slammed on the brakes and cranked the wheel over.
On damp pavement her car skidded out of her lane, through an intersection, across 2 opposing lanes of traffic and into the side of my car at least one car length back from the intersection stopped waiting for the car ahead of mine to move so I could advance.
As for saying whatever they want... Years ago my pickup was hit by a red light runner. She claimed she had the green light while I was the one that ran the red light.
I let her say whatever she wanted, then I told the officer my side. Or maybe I told my side first, I can't remember now.
Later I called her insurance and the insurance adjuster started to push back claiming I was the one at fault, based her version which I guess by this time he had in front of him vis a vis the accident report.
I told him I let the other driver just say whatever she wanted... on the side of the road is no place to settle these matters.
But I pointed out the intersection was partially out of view since the road just before that intersection had a hump/rise from a bridge. The road section she was traveling on was the freeway overpass.
The road had a bend too it as well and the lights at the intersection (off ramp from the freeway) were not that well located.
Because of my experience I recognized the other driver had cataract surgery from her glasses.
The accident occurred early in the morning in winter and it was not very light. The sky was also overcast.
I told the adjuster that I would search high and low for a witness for I worked in that area and would go door to door if I had to until I found someone.
I would of course to do this have to take time off from work and expect to when I found the witness be compensated for my lost wages.
Next I pointed out no one was hurt. The damage was not that great and all I wanted was my truck fixed.
The adjuster said he'd talk to the insured and call me back. Not too long after he called back and said while the other driver still claimed she was in the right he was not convinced.
We settled.
In my favor.

I was in NYC. I was driving behind him. We both turned right onto a one way street. I believe he thought saw a empty parking spot behind him which was actually an hydrant spot. He stopped and went into went into reversed. He didn't check to see anyone was behind me. I honked at him but he did stop and banged!!!

There is a city camera at the corner. I asked the police. He said they are not going to let me use it for evidence. He told me just let the insurance companies do their job. I was wondering are you doing yours?
