In the market for a GT3; what to look out for?

Hi folks.

I'm in the market for a 997.1 GT3RS or a 997.2 GT3.

I know to avoid the centerlock wheels on non-RS models, but beyond that, I'm fairly uninformed on pitfalls of this vintage.

What counts as "good service history," what are $-intensive services that may be looming on the horizon, has PCCB proven to be reliable over the years, etc etc?

Many thanks for any input. Looking forward to finding a nice example

I don't think you can avoid center locks on any kind of GT3 AFAIK? I might be wrong, but I have not seen one GT3 without centerlock.
PCCB is proven and reliable, but on the GT3, the regular brakes are just as good (performance wise) I believe. If it has them, all the better!

$ intensive with any manual car is the clutch. Otherwise service is pretty much similar to a regular carrera + centerlocks need changing every now and then (depends how often you track it)

Find a local shop that is well versed on these cars. Make sure you do a full PPI.

What is your intended use of the car? Track? Street? Both?

CL are standard on all .2 cars
.1 cars seem to have less quirks
.2 cars are faster on the track and have better suspension setup out the box
all are amazing cars

This forum doesn't have a lot of active dialog on gt3, but "that other one" is an amazing source of info on the GT cars.

For me it was: low options (I found a literally, stripped, option .1rs), 380/350 steel brakes (no pccb), documented history, full PPI from a quality shop that knows these cars well.

over-rev report. Dont know why but is seems almost exclusively porsche owners want to downshift to early constantly.

with .2 cars, you can convert to 5 lugs. I actually much preferred it than CL. Less hassle with 5 lugs.
