Unhappy Sad Story

Just a quick story I thought you guys would like. I was on the bus earlier today when I overheard these two guys talking about some "really expensive Porsche." One of them mentioned that it cost $445,000 and does 0 to 100 in less than seven seconds. Obvioulsy they were talking about the CGT. Here's the sad part, one guy says that it makes no sense to have a car like that because "where can you go 100?" Then he says that if he ever saw one he would KEY IT!!! I couldn't believe what he said. What a pathetic human being. Pretty sad that someone has such animosity for another's good fortune. He's probably still upset that Kerry lost I was tempted to say something, but some people you just can't reason with. I just laughed instead.

An observation I've made when traveling to Europe and Asia. Overseas, when you drive such cars, people look at it as a piece of art, they envy and then say to themselves "I gotta work harder." then move on. Here in the States, people perceive owners of these cars as enemies, etc. SAD! Just an observation.

Yup. These A-Holes can't deal with their own inadequacies so they take it out on someone else's possession.

No kidding? My observations are just the opposite, at least for Europe.

Friends in Germany told me they hide their high-end cars and use lesser vehicles most often on the street, said the economy is depressed and flaunting exotics is frowned upon in many areas. I haven't seen it, just was told by current residents. I would guess this is not in all areas, like near the 'Ring.

I once read a little piece from an author in some magazine years ago. He was trying to explain the differences between Americans and Europeans, he was a European himself. Here's how he summed it up: When a European sees a guy in a Ferrari he says to himself "someday I am going to take that car away from him," whereas when an American sees a guy in a Ferrari he says "someday I am going to have one just like him."

Just something to think about.

I have to strongly disagree here. I've lived in Italy, France, US and Canada ... and I'd say it's the exact opposite!

mhart - "on the bus". All done and said.

Maybe they were just overreacting to some blowhard throwing in political comments on their favorite car messageboard?

Man, I would have said "Hey buddy, Im going to key your wife...if ya know what I mean." I really despise people like that though, Im sure we all do. But in all seriousness, I would have spoken up, I wouldnt let some loser like that get away with saying that kind of **** because if he was sincere then maybe someday he will actually key someones nice car...but if you say somthing to his face he might think twice.
