Help Me Decide 997 GT3 or 991 911S?
Check insurance costs before you leap (if that kind of thing matters to you). My 2007 RS costs slightly more than half of what a 2009 Porsche Turbo would have cost through AutoClub. Car wise, the RS is an amazing vehiicle for my aching (5 years of roadracing TZ250 Yamahas) 60 year old body. Every time I take a trip in it, it is comfortable and extremely enjoyable. My 44 year old wife and her aching back (horse crashes, and Tough Mudders) feels likewise. This car will put a serious idiot-style grin on your face every time you drive it. It is simply intoxicating. Further, I wouldn't necessarily shy away from a good condition car with some miles on it. Mine has 27K miles, and it is as solid as when I took delivery of it at 9K miles. I have installed the full RSS Tarmac kit, and the Sharkwerks bypass exhaust (besides an excellent NAV/stereo system), and the suspension kit has tightened it up beautifully, the bypass makes a wonderful sound without any droning, and the sound system makes long drives more enjoyable (and the NAV keeps me from getting lost). Once you are in the Porsche world, you will regret not going the RS route - I almost purchased a GT3, and a 4S before I wised up - I am so glad I stepped up to an RS.
