FNG and wheel fitment

Whats up guys! I recently purchased my first Porsche (997.1 GT3) and just created my profile on here. I'm pretty sure I will be annoying you all with lots of questions so I apologize in advance!

First up- My car came with Rolex Grand AM Cup fenders and the front wheels look super week in there. (hot dog down a hallway) I have a friend that machines wheels and I don't know what size and offset to give him. Does anyone have experience with these fenders? I assume people throw a wider tire in there, but as this is all new to me I have no clue. As for the rear wheel what would an aggressive offset be for the stock fender? ET 53-55? I am not sure if most of you guys remove that spacer or not.

Thanks and I look forward to wasting a good portion of my days BS'ing about cars with you guys!
-Dan

Trollinger,

Thanks man!! I am super stoked on it. I got you PM, but it won't let me PM back because i don't have enough posts yet. I appreciate the wheel offer, but my buddy who owns the machine shop is supposed to make them custom for me. If that deal doesn't work out I will make sure to hit you up! Thanks!

I haven't seen those fenders before. Anyway to contact previous owner to see what he ran? Otherwise, I'd say your wheel buddy should be able to give you an idea. Good luck!!

The reason it looks weak is they put the OEM wheels on a setup designed for 10" wide fronts with a more aggressive offset. GMG used those on quite a few world challenge type street car builds. The cup cars have a few different fender options, including those with extensions similar to the .2RS cars. I like the look of those wide fenders and you can use some stupid wide front tires with them.

Anyway, was talking to my shop about some wider fenders or flares on the front and that Trollinger mentioned is similar to what they suggested, going with a 2" outer, I have a 1" outer now. My offset is 44, 31 suggested is more aggressive (toward fender) I think... Also there are some suspension tricks you can do to push the entire front end out further also, requires mono ball adjustable links, etc.

I've an RS so no help on the rear offsets.

Sell me your fenders :-)

Trollinger and Spyerx,

Thank you guys so much for the info! I will give these specs to my wheel guy, but probably stay with the 19" over the 18" wheel just because I like the look. I will post some photos for you guys after i get the wheels made! Thanks again!

Spyerx- sorry don't think i can let those bad boys go!

For technical questions, you are better off to check out Rennlist and post your questions there. Much more activity on that forum for these types of questions.

For wheels, you should contact Daniel at Finspeed with your needs. He can pretty much provide any offset you need so long as you give him the correct specs.

Good luck with your search.

TYE will become famous soon enough
When gmg ran the Bbs e88 setup on their grand am fenders these are the specs of the Bbs they used: 18x10 front, 18x12 rear +48 front and +63 rear. In terms of front offset it depends on how much negative camber you are willing to run. For example 2010 cup cars with the cup flares come with 18x9.5 et 32 up front which pushes the wheel out further but they run a lot of negative camber.

I have the 2012 cup front fenders and flares and 19x9.5 et 42 front and 19x12 et 63 rear is what finspeed recommended as they have done wheels for this setup before.

While I have seen people successfully fit rs rear wheels on the narrow body I wouldn't do it. Forgeline suggests 19x12 et59 if you want more aggressive offset in the rear. Anything more than that and it will come down to your ride height and negative camber to make it fit without issues.

Don't make a car made to handle well handle worse by trying to run too aggressive offsets for looks. Have the car setup at the proper ride height and camber for what to will be using it for, and buy wheels that fit without issues. All the specs I gave you fit without issue

TYE/SKXF430 - Thank you! All this info is definitely helping me make my decision. A little camber is cool, but i don't want it all radical with giant wheels. I just went over and talked to my buddy doing the work and he said we can cut out the center forging first then measure before i get the inner and outer barrels. Will keep you guys updated. Thanks again!!

Its been a long time in the making, but i finally finished the wheels and color changes. I appreciate all your comments and help figuring out size and offsets. Please let me know what you think!

On a side note I need to sell the stock wheels. Anybody have an idea what i should ask for those things? I also purchased some R888's in the size 265/35/19 only to realize I need 265/30/19. I drove the car home from work with the tires so i can't return them. I will let them go cheap just to recoup some cash if anyone wants them. Thanks!
