991 GT3 vs 997.2 GT3RS for track

I want to be fast on the track, not cool. In my opinion, the manual GT3RS would be cool, but the 991 GT3 is faster in the hands of most drivers. I am pretty competent with a manual, but I'm not experienced enough (both on the track or with a manual) to be faster in a manual vs PDK. Although, I've always wanted the GT3RS, is it worth the time and effort to really learn to properly drive a manual on the track when there likely won't be many, if any, more cars made for the track with a stick? I'm not the kind of guy that would buy a GT3RS and keep it forever, so it's likely my next track car (prob two summers) won't be manual. Am I overestimating the time and effort of mastering the 3 pedals?

Even a professional driver will be faster with the 991 GT3 over any previous GT model manual or not. The pdk can be quite fun to drive in manual mode shifting with the paddles or pdk stick.

Actually the weight of the leftover cash in your pocket might slow you down :-)

Yet another good point steering me toward a new one. 997.2 GT3 pricing is quite high. Back in 2011, I had a chance to buy a 2011 almost exactly like the one below for $130k - it had 280 miles. Guess I blew that.

Yes paddles are "faster" and give you the chance to keep your hands on the wheel and not miss shift, etc. But three pedals are so much more enjoyable and rewarding.

So if you are racing guys with paddles they do have an advantage...but when you spank them with a manual you have better bragging rights!

And by the way, I crush GTRs on track all the time...they just can't take the corners well enough...too heavy.

Are u serious? I had a 997.1 turbo before and now have a 12 gtr. My lap time on the same track is at least 7 seconds faster in stock gtr than my turbo with trofeo tires. Turbo just too soft on track.

In a cup car that makes a lot sense.

Yeah guys show up to the track with 1,000HP GTRs...nothing makes me happier than saying I don't even have 500HP in my little 911...

Track car has to be balanced.
Those 1000 WHP gtrs are most likely not well balanced.
Cars is so heavy with so much power. But braking cooling handling needs to be balanced with the power.
Nothing compare with a cup car on race track.
But 1000hp should be a straight line monster.

Stock GTR can produce very good lap times right out of box but it's a street car at the end of day.

I goes to track 4-6 times a year. So GTR was an easy choice.
It's faster than most cars on street and produce very good laptimes on track. If I goes to track more than 15 times a year. I will buy a cup car for sure.

Yeah I get the allure of a GTR...but Porsches are very reliable and capable track machines...the GT2s do ok on track but still can't compete with the cups.
