GT3 Recaro Seats
GT3 Recaro Seats
Hi All,
I'm looking to get this pair of GT3 Recaro seats for my 997.2 Carrera and have a few questions for the seats experts here.
What do we know about the seats looking at this part number sticker? I'm assuming "07.12.1999" was the built date?

Is the colour Terracotta? Or is there another variation of orange/red offered by Porsche?
Appreciate any help!

Pretty sure "07.12.1999" is build date, or perhaps shipping schedule date. Doesn't matter much either way. Nearly 15 years ago.
These are not the 996-era "Alien Eyes" seats so favored by so many, but their predecessors. I have no personal knowledge of the seats pictured, but the Alien Eyes ones were dandy.
Most importantly, I think, do you have real proof of how and where they have been stored, and what's the compatibility of the mounting hardware shown? Foam, even Porsche German foam made by Dr. Porsche's beloved wife, may not have fared well in fifteen years of too hot/too cold/too something storage.
Best.

What exactly are different with the "Alien Eyes" seats? I thought these are the (only) 996 era GT3 seats? I know there are 997 GT3/ Carrera GT seats which can be easily identified from the 996 GT3 seats.
A very good point on how they have been stored, I'm going to personally inspect the seats before committing of course. From what I understand they (the seller) were an official Recaro distributor so these would've been properly stored in a warehouse.
Cheers
The rails appear to be correct for your 997.2. You will have to deal with an airbag light. I've had a couple of sets of GT3 seats in the past and as far as I can remember these appear to be identical.
Great looking seats

Thanks for the confirmation. Yes I believe these are genuine. From what I can gather online, these are the only version of 996 GT3 seats, which some refer to as "alien eyes". I cannot seem to find any info a "predecessor" version of these seats?
