Dilemma - Keep GT3 or Turbo
Like you, I know what I wanted and I got it.
This thread has already veered off course as folks talk about value and rarity which are meaningless for his dilemma.
The owner of this thread wants to hear why he should keep his GT3 over his Turbo, and now I want to hear what you will tell him

GT3: Unique, sporty, nimble, daily driver, little if any depreciation, true sports car to rival any, proper PDK-S, pretty much all sold out.
TTS: Dime a dozen, more grandpa feel, daily, huge depreciation, fast, for one that can't handle GT3 in all aspects, plenty available at killer deals.
Honestly, if you really want more of a cushy car that you can take to your bridge games at the country club--get the TTS--no doubt. It will get you there fast. If you're looking for sports car (that is track ready) and can easily be a daily driver, GT3 is the only game in town (and costs about $40k less). Problem is they are pretty much sold out

To the originator of this thread...
Sure. I'll keep it simple.

I thought so, and now for the facts:
1. The Turbo S clocked the same 7:25 on the Nordschleife as the GT3, and the GT3 was sporting tires with more grip-- Pilot Sport Cup tires-- than the Turbo or Turbo S tires.
2. In a sprint to any speed, the Turbo is faster. Have the ECU flashed to spool those turbos sooner and it will further annihilate a GT3. The GT3 cannot be tweaked so easily.
3. The Turbo is the better daily driver between your choices. It was designed that way.
4. The Turbo has the options that you desire most as you stated. You also stated that your GT3 does not have the options you want. While other GT3s may have those options, a swap may not be possible because as many GT3 owners have kindly reminded us they are all sold out. A moot point since you own one already.
5. The GT3 has superior feel/responses over the Turbo. You know this and I have only heard it. My buddy owns a GT3 but the car is laid up for the winter. No GT3 seat time for me until it thaws here in Minnesota (-26 deg. F. wind chill today as I drove my Turbo S this morning).
6. Both cars are unique, but the GT3 is hands down more rare.
7. The Turbos depreciate much faster. You will realize this immediately if you sell your Turbo, or you can appreciate what you have already purchased. If you do not intend to track either car then the Turbo is the likely choice.
8. The GT3 will hold its value better, but what do you value? Do you value the fact that you will lose less money on a GT3 or do you value that you will use your GT3? You obviously have the resources to own both.
9. In general, neither of these cars are investment grade. The Turbos stopped becoming investments when Porsche switched from air-cooled engines. The 991 GT3 may have stopped when an automatic became the only transmission option. I hope I am wrong on this last comment because I love my PDK as much as a good 6-speed! Neither car uses the Mezgar engine design.
10. The GT3 is far more track-ready than a Turbo. It looks the part and supposedly drives the part-- I cannot wait to drive one!
Finally, I recommend you lease your cars in the future if you really aren't sure of which to own. Buying is better for the long haul given the lion's share of depreciation occurs within the first 36 months.
Now I am leaving this forum forever and going back to my Turbo buds. It's bridge night at the country club.

You should buy a GT3, you will dump that 458 so fast and put money back in your pocket (then again trying to sell a 458 these days is pretty darn hard).
If you have another Daily Driver keep the GT3. As someone else stated neither of these cars are investments and will depreciate. You are likely to make out better on the GT3. It is lighter has better steering feedback and sounds better. If it were me I would put 500-1000 more miles on each of the cars before making my decision. It is just a car and either can be replaced easily. Enjoy the one you like best.
Texex glad you are happy with your purchase old sport. You keep stating that GT3 cannot be found but as stated in another thread there are plenty available. There are plenty at sticker now too. This is not 6 months ago when there was more demand than supply. There are two right here in Dallas in stock at sticker.
If you are confused which car is faster I am happy to make a visit to Austin with a go pro and show you
WRS is already down there with his FVD 991 Turbo maybe he would be happy to drag you around Austin.
PS the Turbo is still faster around the ring just ask 911 chief engineer August Achleitner. http://blogs.motortrend.com/1411_for...g_kiinote.html

No that was 5 in the NYC Tri state region - I didn't try hard - fyi - I have done nothing but make good money on all my 458's - including 28k on my spider after a year - Speciale is 50-60 over so not sure what your talking about -
I'm a Porsche collector - my 930 and 993 turbos are value cars - this gt3 is not and will not be - RS yes - but don't belive your own hype on the market values

Sweet! Enjoy the bridge game.
WOW! A whole 5 in the entire US. And you're wrong on 458--that market is SOOO soft right now. You can find tons of minty 458's and more pouring on the market by the day as the Turbo comes out. There are dealers with brand new 458's on their lot--probably more than GT3

Uh, interesting I just spoke with the GM's of both Dallas dealerships Sat and they both told me '15's completely sold out and have none. Also nothing on their site.
Sure you don't have it confused with TTs
Those they both begged me to take one.
Love how the Turbo guys come the GT3 section--jealousy is an ugly emotion.
All's good in my book seriously, but don't come on here saying GT3's are plentiful--they are not. TTS--yes. I was offered 20% off 2015 TTS on the last day of 2014...I passed of course. Getting one cent off GT3---um, no...even if you find one. Why? Because they are hard to find--no matter what you all pontificate.
Now let's break out the AARP cards and get to the bridge game...you guys need to teach me how you play that game LOL!

03LX470 congrats again. Let us know which way you go.
Texex- Soooo angry. I will send Patrick a text right now. See if you checked in with him
My guess is you are talking out of you A**
No one is trolling. The question is in regards to both the new TT and the GT3. Each side voted with their wallet. You are just a Gt3 fanboy. Stop acting like you saved all your paper route money and its going to be your last car.
Are you not going to take me up on the offer to go for few runs around town?

No one is angry my friend, maybe time for a diaper change?
+1. I love the GT3. It is gorgeous. And one of the best pure performance cars on the planet as confirmed by both owners and car mags.
I certainly could have afforded it. But I live in NYC and need the ground clearance, approach angle and greater daily driveability. And I don't really track my cars. But I love explosive acceleration and tuneability for even more power. So the TTS met my needs.
Regardless of the 991 model I own, I am a car nut first and foremost. The 991 Turbo forum is pretty dead. This forum is a beehive of activity by contrast. It's fun to be over here as well.

My point was living where I do, GT3 works better and for my lifestyle it's perfect. For others the TTS is perfect--all's good to me

Like you said, better we are all buying Porsche's than something else (or at least more P-Car's than F-Cars).
