I looked at this car, saw all the documents and the massive list of repairs, makes me wonder if the accident happened on the track. For the OP, look at previous owners name(they forgot to white out every page) and google porsche drivers event, you will even find a video of your future car. I chose to walk away, not worth the headache if in a couple years my CAR ADD kicks in and I m looking to move it. On the other hand at that price, someone may want to turn it into a dedicated track vehicle. My buy now price however would have been 75K.

I have all docs. Everything from the dealer paper work lines up. The doc with the line out you are referring to was from LaMettrey's. The Porsche collision shop. It's only on one page. Not sure why that's there. It's no secret as to who owned the car. He is very close to the shop, service manager at the dealer. Car was rear ended not far from the dealer just after purchase goes the story. His name is all over the service work. No way was the car going to go for 75K with 15K miles. He has bought several cars from them and has a 991 GT3 on order. They gave him a great high price on the trade. I beat on them for a week to get to 85K with 4 counter offers. That's 25K off the going price for the accident. Did you see the car? Yes, long parts list in regard to the repair, every clip, small part etc.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll do some more digging...

No didnt see at all, im in ohio, but the story they told me was "owner gunned it on highway and it broke loose spinning out off the road into a ditch"...

It does look clean as all get out and an outright bargain....I actually told the salesman, you will sell this for mid eighties but it wont be an internet sale, gotta lay hands on it....

I say if it checks out, ppi good, drives nice and looks good and you are happy with it, go for it.....its a lot of car for the $

Yes, the Google search provided the driver instruction/day video from BIR. I'd post it but it was not exactly quick . Pretty mild. He did one session. From the search it also looks like his profession is also pretty mild. Not to judge but he looks far from a hooligan. I think the guys at IMOLA Motorsports may know him. I will check during the PPI. I think the white out was a privacy concern. I'll ask my salesman. This is kinda like CSI work...

Thanks again for the heads up..

PAC 12 - although we'll need to see if the Buffs can rise to the needed level of play...

I'm originally from the Portland OR area....

Back to the topic...
The thread reminds me of a car I was considering about 5 yrs ago. It was an '06 or '07 911. The car was being sold by the local Porsche dealer. Car was owned/previously owned by Porsche NA. Car had a significant accident and was repaired by Porsche. All repairs were disclosed. Title was not branded/salvage as it was never 'titled' by an 'owner'. Nothing on a CARFAX or similar. Once somene bought it, there would be no recored of the repairs. Essentially a new (with miles) car at an appropriate discount. Dealer was very open (said it was Porsche NA's policy).

I nearly pulled the trigger but ultimately passed for many of the reasons mentioned in this thread.

Yea, it's been a while for the Buff's…

Yes, no car fax would be nice! If this car checks out it's all about the relatively low mileage and obviously the selling price. If I wanted to dig into the savings more and spend 120k I could. Just don't want to. In some ways I know more about this car than a perfect car. More stuff has been looked at and proved out. It's really a perfect looking car. You couldn't find a paint swirl or a single rock chip. Aside from the accident it was very lightly used.

I hope to drive and have fun for 5 plus years and then see what happens to the 991 Gt3 market or even the 997 GT3 RS market. We'll see. Seems like the 991 Gt3 RS's are going to be way up there…

Take care-

UPDATE: PPI finished…

Well, if it walks like a duck…

The car came back with a very nice PPI except :/

The tech noticed 2 small fresh oil seepage spots on the rear of the engine on each of the cam carriers. These were not noted or seen at the 100 point and oil change 3 months ago. Hmmm…

To my knowledge this is NOT a common issue and was verified by several high end Porsche engine shops as such.

The dealer is showing no inclination to want to look any deeper into the issue without money on my end.

Any feedback welcomed but it looks like this is the end of the road for me on this car, I'm a tad sad as I wanted to make it my new buddy but I did get to put 60 miles on a GT3 and that was worth the price of the PPI! It's quite a beast...Getting back into the Cayman S is now a bit of a drag!

Just buy it or move on. Asking a bunch of Porsche owners an opinion is like clapping with one hand; no really, life is short. If its want you want, you don't need any opinion. I thought I read there's a warranty? Porsche is not a car, it's a personality. Sounds like a great deal "for you" and that's all that matters! Stay trusty man friend.

So what do the experts say might be the underlying issue and repairs needed to address the 'seepage'?

You have come this far, I would think you should still buy the car unless they are saying based on that seepage they see you might have the engine blow up on you... ???

Good point, but easy gunpowder! That's aggressive. Thanks for the feedback man friend...

In any case, yes, late breaking news, the warranty situation is now in play. Will know Monday.

Hey,

Obviously, I'm being picky. Tech said it's not fatal But something that should be addressed at some point. Now is the time. Can't determine the specific spot without dropping the motor. It's unrelated to the accident. Remember, it gets cold here. Like -20. The car was out side and not driven for 60 days. Stuff shrinks gaskets etc..

Thanks for checking back....

If you plan on tracking the car you'll probably want to drop the engine to have the coolant hose couplings pinned or welded. While you have the engine out you could easily fix any visible seepage issues.
