I made the move from AMG Mercedes vehicles to Porsche 5 years ago and despite my early misgivings about cost of ownership, my 5-year experience has been very positive. In fact my Panamera S has been one of the cheapest cars I have owned in terms of maintenance. Note that I drive around 3,000 miles per annum, but I did that with my AMG’s as well.
So I decided to have Mr. Hyde join Dr. Jekkel in the garage. Once I made the decision it was quite an arduous journey. I wanted either the Rhodium Silver or the Agate Gray, and I needed the Lift Kit, but apart from that I would have taken pretty much any build. I was messed around by a dealer in Atlanta for a week who was holding out an Agate for a good client, so I bailed and tracked down this fine Silver specimen at Santa Barbara Auto Group.
The build list features Black Alcantara with Guards Red Stitching, Guards Red Instrument Dials, Guards Red Seat Belts, Brushed Aluminum Interior Package, Extended Fuel Tank, Heated Seats, BiXenon Dynamic Lights, Sound Package Plus, Front Axle Lift System, Automatic Dimming Mirrors and Rain Sensor, 18way Adaptive Seats, Clear Glass Taillights. I had them snap a few images and send them over to me.
Of course I could do without the heated seats here in FL, but I was happy with the build specs.
I thought about flying over and driving it back to FL, and while doing the 2,800 mile trip as the break-in seemed appealing, that equates to the annual mileage I put on my cars, so I had SBAG ship it to me, and they did a fine job of getting it transported in an enclosed transporter over the holiday weekend.
Fortunately the driver managed to keep it on the road while so many around him went skidding off into the verges on the icy roads.
They delivered the car to our studio, and we watched in anticipation as they drove it off. Without the lift kit it would have required a lot more planning.
Took a couple of quick snapshots in the parking lot with the Panamera in the background.
Spent the weekend doing some gentle driving around town, and Mr. Hyde is quite spectacular. The exhaust note is just DOWNRIGHT INTOXICATING! It is really hard trying to keep Mr. Hyde from misbehaving!
congrats on the purchase! Happy to see you are out enjoying it already! Car looks great as well, you just cant go wrong with the 991 GT3 in any color really
Looks amazing! I could have never convinced myself to make the drive across the country. Good choice on having it shipped.
