CGT or modded GT2: Which is more challenging?
CGT or modded GT2: Which is more challenging?
I was just curious which car would be more challenging to drive aggressively on a road course? I have read the CGT is extremely challenging due to its raw power and MR layout. However, I would think a rear wheeled/rear engine car like the GT2 would be just as difficult to handle if not more so, due to the rear weight bias and no electronics to save you. Also, let's assume the GT2 was modded to about 650 hp, so that acceleration is probably comparable.
I have driven a stock GT2 on a tight road course and the car was wicked in my opinion. It is the most challenging car I have ever driven at full throttle exiting corners. I can only imagine how much of a handful that car would be with another 200 hp.
Also, would a stock suspended GT2, but with 650 hp be able to circulate the Nurburgring as quckly as the CGT?
Just curious.

At the limit, a mid-engined car will rotate more quickly. Great for turn-in, can be eye-opening at other times. So, chassis-wise, I would expect a CGT to require more finesse. OTOH, the linearity of the NA engine will make it easier to control power application relative to a turbocharged engine.
Either one of them will be a beast, but I'd expect the CGT to be better balanced.
On the N-ring, the CGT still has total weight, weight distribution, centre of gravity, suspension and aerodynamics in its favor, so it will be faster.

The CGT requires alot more finess on the track than a stock GT2-
But then again you can go faster in the CGT if you have any sort of talent.
If you on the other hand run out of talent- It will bite you hard......
Just my .02 cents - with what little time I have in both at the track ( sarcastic grin)

Fabryce,
Would adding another 200 hp to GT2 make things any different or would the CGT still be more difficult to drive? Would a 650 hp GT2 be faster than a CGT on a fast road course?
Thanks for your feedback.

I've driven the GT2 at Leipzig (Porche's track), and it was a joy to drive - to me, easier to drive than the GT3. I've tracked my GT several times now, and it seems I have to way more "on" in the GT vs the GT2.
I was just at Spring Montain last week and we had a GT2 there with a driver that's been at the track many times. He was taking the track faster than I was (as I was just learning it
), but it did impress me as how nimble and quick that GT2 was.
