I am just happy that a GT3 finished ahead of that GTO-R POS! Pretty sad when an awesome Cup car cant beat a GTO-R....like almost happened in the last raceof last year, wasn't it for that "flying block". LOL

Don't forget that GTO spun with a two lap lead, would have won hands down if not for that mishap.
Glad to see all the 996GT3's kickin' butt, where were all the 997s'?

Yeah, wasn't that something? And if you know Murray, he's such a nice, quiet guy. I saw that and went "Whoa!!!...yeah, stick it to 'em David!"

That was two consec years of super close-call championships for Craig w/David bringin' it home. What a pair.

It does make you wonder. The GTO-R is basically a new car in this event and were it not for the spin-out would have won. Porsche AG better take a serious look at their future plans if they are at all concerned about market share and being competitive. "thats racing" doesn't cut it in my book....Porsche was getting their *** kicked.

And those GT0'Rs had more $$$$ behind them than the 20 GT3S. When you have factory cash, it makes a huge difference. And I am not talking support....but the full factory behind you.

The reality it that the 997's have only a marginally better setup, but not groundbreaking addl performance in comparison to others in the field. However, this has always been a "thing" with driving Porsche in races. Bottom line, they just last a lot longer because they're built alot better than anything else on the track. Always have been.
dollar for dollar, 996 cup cars are an awesome and affordable way to go racing!

I think it boils down to the GTO having a superior powerplant to the Porsches. The small block chevrolet, from which the goat's motor is derived, is probably the best ,most durable engine to ever hit a racetrack(I'm biased bc I used to race them), bar none.
The factory support is critical and a key factor in their success, as is the PAG's total lack of support.

Which is true to a point, but you make it sound like these porsche teams don't have much factory support behind them. They have a ton, I mean porsche is in the market to sell these cars, and sell a lot they do. While Pontiac doesn't have 40 cars out there. What benefits do you think TRG has w/ pontiac behind them that they don't have w/ the P-cars they run?

Regardless, 20 GT3's, 2 GTO's.....still interesting

Their support is givng these teams data and discounts on parts and cars. They don't provide wind tunnel time, cash for testing, etc.

GM is putting a ton of cash behind their racing efforts. If Porsche had a factory team. IMO it would not be close. Look at the effort with the sypder. I don't care who you are, to have a car out that wins in its first time out. Shows what they are capible of.

To bad it won't help GOAT sales.
They do my buddy Rhys Millens Drift Car, GTO
They tried to get him to do the G6 for next season.
Not sure where that ended up.
