Octane Boost??

I picked up my car on Friday!

Reading the owner's manual, it states that the minimum octane rating for the GT3 is 98 (RON) but the engine will run with 95 with help from the engine management system.

The highest rating that I can purchase here is Sunoco 93 (no more 94). Do I add an octane boost for my normal everyday driving?

For the track this will not be an issue since 98 (and higher) octane is easily available.

Thank you.

Interesting...I thought the numbers at the pump were (RON+MON)/2 though??

I looked at 2 brands and I did not see a "MON" number on the pump. The manual makes a basic attempt to correlate the CLC and AKI ratings to RON, but other than showing the equation that you have in your response, they do not disaggregate a MON number within the recommendation. (I understand that the net number is just an average of the 2 measurements.) Without the MON variable I don't know the real number I guess, which is why I am asking the question.

To be clear, is your answer "yes", "no" or "maybe" as to the use of an additive? Thanks

NO on the additive...If you want higher octane, mix 50/50 of 100 racing unleaded with 93 unleaded. Most octane booster's add lead...very bad...The car's ecu has been detuned by the factory to perform on a minimum od 91 octane, so you will not notice any difference with a higher one. I run 93 and it's just fine IMHO...

i run CA pump gas which is 91, the ecu knows what gas u use. in the gt2, you could feel more power develop when running straight 100.

i would never use the additive
