Taking Deposits on New GT3
I signed up at downtown L.A. porsche on Saturday and am number 2 on the list and may get bumped up to 1 if the guy before me goes for the turbo instead. I am number 24 in Phoenix and number 14 at Pacific porsche. I would suggest that anybody wanting a GT-3 contact Downtown L.A. porsche as they have the smallest wait list that I could find so far. Real nice guys to work with also.

Yes today was my first post. I generally just lurk here and pick up all of the new info and gossip that I can. I did buy a GT-3 from Downtown Porsche a year and a half ago and was alright with the deal but was more impressed with my sales person than the dealership in general. When I saw the pictures of the new GT-3 I knew that I had to have one. I first contacted Phoenix, put down a deposit and was told that I would be 24 on the list but that they expected to be able to move me up fast as they expected many people to fall off the list as deposits were now required.
I was driving along PCH and pulled into pacific porsche to just look around and the sales guy there told me that they had 13 deposits and that I would be number 14 and that all of these were confirmed with deposits received. I put down a deposit and received a receipt confirming my spot as number 14 and that the car would be sold at not over MSRP. I then swung by Downtown L.A. Porsche to see what their wait was. (Notice that they were not first on my list to see, my previous sales person is no longer there so I had really no reason to go back.) The sales manager there was very nice to talk with and he said that I would be number two on their list if I put down a depost. I did and have a receipt for number two. He then said that the number one spot was thinking possibly of a turbo rather than a GT-3 and that would put me number one. I have 3 deposits out and will wait and see what really happens. I want the car.
I think that Phoenix has such a long list because there is only one dealer in the Phoenix area and Phoenix is a pretty hot spot for up scale cars.
That is my (rather long) story.

Phoenix asked for 500.00
Pacific Porsche was 1,000.00
Downtown L.A. Porsche asked for 2,500.00 but I baulked a bit and told him that Pacific had asked for only 1,000.00 and he said that would be fine but that when he recieved the request to spec out the car that I would need to increase the deposit to 4,000.00. I was O.K. with that. The deposits are all refundable and both Pacific porsche and Downtown Porsche agreed on the deposit receipt that the car would be sold for MSRP or less. Phoenix would not agree to any price restriction, they said market conditions.

This Board should identify and publicize every Dealer who trys that crap.
