The rear spoiler on the GT3, although functional, is not too pretty. Can it be replaced with something else? Obviously one wouldn't lose too much downforce with a similar but smaller wing, and since in our use of the car it wouldn't be tracked, we wouldn't lose much at all. Any ideas? Can someone pshop something? If it were possible, I think a change from 997 turbo to GT3 order is in the works. Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys. Anything that tones it down any? Would the reg. 997 aero kit wing fit? would one be able to stick a 997tt wing on there?

why would you upset the balance of the car removing the wing ? The car was designed and wind tunnel tested for this. So keep the stock, or buy a cup car spoiler like in darren's pick and put on a bigger cup car front splitter...short of that, buy a 997S

I am puzzled as to why any mature adult would want to drive around in a car with any spoiler. I can understand the reason for it in track work but driving around the city? What could be more silly looking?

BTW I agee that the GT3 spoiler is pretty obnoxious looking.

Speaking for myself, my car is not driven to work, rarely driven to pose on the street like most Ferrari owners and is used most exclusively to travel to/from and on the track....

It depends on the car. Slapping a wing on a 360 would be a bit tacky to my eyes, as it is on pretty much any Honda. On a 911, though, I think the right wing balances out the rear end nicely. That's the only part of a regular 911 I don't like, aesthetically. I drive a C4S, which I'm told has the best *** of any 911, but I would still like a wing on it. The right wing .

If the sight of a 993 Turbo with its whale-tail doesn't stir your loins just a little, you're not, and will never be, a wing guy (which is fine, too).

I don't think it's always a maturity issue. Sure, younger guys like wings more than older guys in general, but there's more to it than that.

I'm actually 18 (and think it will look better with a lesser wing), and my dad ordered the car. He's not sure if he'll definately take it (still likes 550 maranello), but is sure he doesn't like the wing. Check out my first post... it clearly stated that the car would not be taken the extreme limits of those on a track, therefore not needing the spoiler 100%; additionally, I never said he wasn't replacing it with nothing-- just something that is a little more toned down, which will still give more downforce than needed. And your (rockitman) mindset os wrong... the 997 GT3 is clearly intended to me a DD, but will have the track option. That means there are two ways to look at the car. (1) A terrific Porsche-interation of a Challenge Stradale, perhaps a little more road worthy even, and (2) A dedicated track monster with the roll bar/CGT style seats option. The intent for our car is for the former. Yours is for the latter. You can get your RS wing (the opposite of what my dad is looking for), and we can tone it down.

Dude just start with a Carrera, being 18 with a GT3 or Ferrari is pretty scary.

I did not mean to insult you. I am glad to hear you do not tool around town with that huge wing which is depicted in your avatar. For track it is very understandable.

Haha, my dad has a 996 cab. (...but my M3 is faster--devil look--), and this car is for him. I'm just checking things out for him. His 911 was actually the first car I've ever driven on the road, and after 3 years of hard back-roading, my dad has said I can handle Porsches well. And he knows-- he's had one since he was 19. Anyway, it's nice seeing you on bf.c, I'm JoeyG there.
