CGT off road this weekend?

"I am old enough not to drive around in a car with a silly massive tail on the back screaming "I Am RACER, I AM A RICER oh I mean a RACER. Honest I am real fast. please believe me". Tell me do you wear a fire suit, gloves and helmet when you drive your car around town.
"
Thats it, after seeing a car three feet off the road with little or no visible damage, its obvious I need to sell my CGT immediately....Cars should never leave the road period. Thanks for showing me the error of my ways nicky...

The Carrera GT is the only Porsche that he thinks is cooler than his F430

This is the only view his F-car is likey to get of a CGT:

I have no doubt my opinion is colored somewhat as a result of Ben's death. But I also knew before his death that though the car is a superb performer it was also just too much for most drivers including myself. Like you I consider my self a competent but not expert driver.
I know there are a lot of macho drivers on this Board who believe they are the second coming of Michael Shumacker (I am not referencing you) and that is what scares the crap out of me. Not only for themselves but with others that share the road.
The car is communicative to a point and many of the lost control incidents do involve inappropriate use of the throttle. But that is the problem with the car. The input on the car is very sensitive and trouble is around the next corner and nothing to bail the driver out. The car requires extensive instruction for its appropriate use.
Mike V. you have the track experience to drive the car. Your right I would be seeing your CGT rear all the time in my 430. Money bought the performance to make your boast. If I was inclined, I could spend a lot less money than you did for your CGT and have your CGT looking at my rear. What does that prove.
Does it make me a better driver?

Now you've revealed something about yourself in particular, and the CGT in general.
I thought your whole rap on the CGT versus F-cars was ALL ABOUT money. No?
Thanks for fessing up

Besides, what ever low-bucks car you could scare up that might beat my CGT on the track wouldn't get you preferred parking at your favorite valet-only watering hole.
Now you'll need two cars to beat a CGT!

Hell based on what I am hearing and reading the 997TT will give you a pretty good fight and it can be had for a mere $140,000 taxes included. A few upgrade and it probably would crush you. Technology moves on.
Also there is a 993 Andial here in CA which would spank you pretty good for about the same price of the 997TT.
I could buy about three of either one and still have change left over.
It is all about money and how you want to spend it. I chose the car that I can drive fast easy, lose little or nothing on it and be coveted by majority of the car owners on the planet. Sadly only a few of us could own one. If I wanted a CGT, I could call tomorrow morning starting at 9:00 AM and have one for almost $100,000 below MSRP by 9:00 AM and 30 sec.
BIg difference. You can drive around in your CGT with a sign on the window telling people I beat a 430. They really will be impressed.

Everybody except you already knows
I think the reality is that too many drivers have gotten used to traction and stability control. Now you take a driver that is used to driving fast sedans (545/M5, E500/E55, etc.) or other sportscars (996TT, F430, Gallardo/Murci, etc.) where they have gotten used to being saved by the electronics and put them in a VERY high HP car (CGT/Enzo) with RWD and no traction control there are bound to be issues.
Many people have lost respect for what can happen in a car very quickly without these driving aids. It wouldn't be much different if they stopped putting traction control in 997's and F430's suddenly.
I guess what I am getting at is blame the drivers and not the cars.
