From looking at the Porsche UK configurator for the 997 GT3, it appears even if you order special leather ie. Natural Grey, the seat inserts will be Alacantra.

It appears you can eliminate the Alacantra in the streering wheel by ordering the thicker wheel in smooth leather.

I'm wondering if it will take a "special order" to eliminate the Alacantra in the seat inserts and gear shifter.

Would appreciate any thoughts.

Good Idea!, By removing the alacantra it will reduce like the interior trim from spoiling because Alacantra aka Suede needs alot of caring!

 

actually Alacantra is easier to take care of than leather. it shows less wear on the seat compare to leather.

don't know if I would get the alcantara steering wheel or gear ****, my old m3 had it and it would crumble away after a while.

 

It can crumble away and dry after several years, but I love that stuff. True race car feel, like several sports cars and formula cars I have driven / raced. Personally, I'm the opposite of this post. I'm trying to figure out how soon I can get that wheel and shifter in my car, or should I go ahead and get on the waiting list for a Rinnspeed Indy . . .

 

Why would you WANT to delete Alcantara? It's easy to keep clean, it decreases glare and increases grip. I'm building a custom interior for my 951 in Alcantara.

 

alcantara does wear if your hands are oily (sweaty)..it is a synthetic material

 

well I guess you could wear a pair of gloves whenever you drive the car the alcantara does look hot

 

My hands are very sweaty!
