What effect will the 997GT3 have on the 996GT3?

I know I can't afford a 997GT3 right now but I will buy a 996GT3. My question is what do you guys think will be the effect of the 997GT3 on the value of the 996GT3 in the used market in the next 6 months to a year or when dealers start taking delivery of the 997 GT3?

I want a 996 GT3 bad but my concern is if the values will drop significantly on the 996 GT3 should I wait 6-8 months?

By the way I am new to this forum but belong to several different forums and I have learned more in a week as a member here than any other website. Thanks to all who have replied to my threads.

The 997 GT3 appears to be the 'it' car of the moment. There seems to be significantly more buzz relative to it than the 997tt.

However, it also seems that Porsche may be artificially limiting supply of this car so its resale will be high. Also, the GT3 seems less likely to be bought by flippers. Moreover, the 996 GT3 seems to be slightly more hardcore than the 997.

All of that seems to bode well for the value of the 996 GT3 whose resale value has slipped a bit in the last 6 months.

The GT3 will never suffer the resale raping that the TT has suffered and I think life is WAY too short to worry about a few grand. Buy the car now if you can afford it and enjoy the heck out of it.

Good luck.
