GT and a GT3RS?
Wish it were me. Only thing I am thinking is you are gonna run slicks at the track, right? Gonna drive home with slicks? If not, then you are going to need a tow vehicle anyway, or at least a trailer.

with the RS you get:
- bragging rights. "mine's more special than yours
" - a chance to own orange rims and be given props for it
- you can tell people RS stands for "really sexy"
- etc etc

i do believe that ultimately, the best track car (if what you're after is to go 10/10ths and really really become a better driver thru practice) is the one that you can put into the wall and then walk away from without thinking much about it.
I track my 997GT3, but am limited to 8/10ths, because the idea of wrecking it doesn't bear thinking!!!
If you're in the fortunate position of being able to go 10/10ths in an RS, and if-- touch wood-- something happens, you can still just walk away and shrug your shoulders, then by all means go for it! More power to you!!! (and when I grow up I wanna be just like you!
)As a final point, while I haven't ridden in a 997GT3RS, my regular GT3 feels a lot more streetable than a CGT. So driving to/from track in an RS should be easy-peazy!!!
Cheers!
Everything you fo with the GT can be done by the RS...so you should use your GT to have fun and cruise during weekends, while the RS for the track use, and normal driving.
The opposite is possible as well...

FWIW, Car magazine an unabashedly pro Porsche magazine did not feel the almost $20,000 cost of the RS over the base GT3 was worth it. If you are a top notch driver you may be able to squeeze a fraction of a second faster around a track in a RS but that is about it. I suspect you will be disappointed with either car after having driven your CGT.
Why not buy a much cheaper track car and mod it? You can have the enjoyment of pushing it without breaking the bank.
