GT3-RSR Street Version?

http://www.flat-6.net/phpBB2/viewtop...&highlight=rsr

not sure if this is true, but i am very interested. i was under the impression that such things like the dual-Stage resonance intake manifold with the single throttle valve control would be illegal due to filtration and smog? wouldn't that make the GT3-RS kind of obsolete then? any information or opinions appreciated. thanks.

the GT3 RSR pumps out 445 hps and it is intended for use in GT classes....etc. apparently they also offer retrofit kit to bring GT3 cup models up to date

Very unlikey, since RSR engine needs to be completely rebuilt after 30 hours of use, not to mention emission compliance problems. That guy from England who is spreading this rumor on that other forum needs to lay off the Bass Ale....Besides he is a kid, talking about his Daddy's cars...

i see. thanks for the info. since the RSR isn't coming...what parts are available to make n/a hp from the MK2 GT3?

is it possible to get a hold of RSR internal components? do you think these internals would help reliability, or will they just raise compression for racing motors, unusuable and not as reliable for the street? i mean at 11.7:1 cr, and 106hp/liter, this stock MK2 GT3 is really a technical marvel as it is. i have taken interest in the following items from the RSR:

Porsche GT3-RSR Connecting Rods
Porsche GT3-RSR Dual-Stage Resonance Intake Manifold w/ Single Throttle Valve
- Multiple Sport Fuel Injection
- Ram-Air Inlet w/ GT3-RSR Dual Air-Restrictors
Porsche GT3-RSR Pistons (Bore: 99.99mm, Stroke: 76.4mm)
Porsche GT3-RSR Valves (titanium)

would these be good for an N/A buildup on a street-driven weekend-car MK2 GT3, or are these for racing cars? anyone know the bore of the stock pistons? also, can these be obtained through Porsche Motorsports Sales?

just dreaming up a possible weekend car. rockitman, seeing pictures and hearing about your GT3 is almost making me want to get one! the AMG i drive is fast, but no sports car and i am really in love with Porsche. thanks!

The GT3 Mk2 motor is made by Porsche Motorsports. It is already basically a racing motor that is streetable. It already has titanium con rids, lightened pistions, lightened valve lifters(possibly titanium) and the GT1 crank shaft, racing dry sump oil system. While the Carbon Fibre intake manifold looks nice and it very lightweight, I doubt it would be ODB2 compliant. The GT3 rocks as it is. If you want to squeeze a little more perfromance, you can add the Europipe performance exhaust with 100 cell racing cats in combination with a BMC high flow air filter($4,500). That is good for 15 additional ponies. I dynoed my car stock and it developed 348rwhp with estimated crank power close to 400hp. The motor is a work of art as it is. I would not mess with the internals. It cost's $40,000 to replace this motor. You better off saving weight on the car by replacing the stock seats with GT3 seats...saves 45 lbs and the wheels with kinesis or fikse. There you can save 18lbs in unsprung weight. If you order the car, you can get the ceramic brake option and save another 25lbs, get the car with no a/c and radio. That's probably good for another 35 to 40 lbs.

Rockitman: Where did you hear that Motorsports built the GT3 street motors? My understanding is the street, and possibly Cup, motors are produced on the standard production line in Zuffenhausen with only the RSR production at Weissach.

The PCCB option saves 40 pounds. It's also over $28K to replace all 4 rotors so unless you have one helluva maintenance budget you'd have to think really hard to decide if those pounds are worth it.

It was my understanding that Porsche Motorsports was involved in the design and tuning of the motor. Perhaps it is assembled at Zuffenhausen... Guess I better check out my research...

rockitman: Ah, semantics. The GT3 motor can be considered race bred but the motorsports department doesn't assemble them for the street cars.

Correct Steve. While it has Porsche Motorsports design/tuning input, it is none the less assembled at Zuffenhausen. Weissach is too small to handle that level of production volume. I saw your post at the German source, Rennteam...

thanks for the info guys. now all i have to do is get all the money for the GT3, which will take a while. i guess i would try some kinesis k58r's, gt3 seats, tequipment roll-bars, europipe exhaust, and bmc air filters plus some gt3-rs exterior parts in that case. i believe maybe some Ohlins shocks would be nice too. dang, i really want a GT3 now!!!

You could install the Sachs double adjustable shocks from the GT3 Cup car (new as of '03 I believe) but they're matched to the much stiffer springs in the Cup car which I doubt you'd want to install on a GT3 driven on the street.
