750 Mile confession......a 997 GT3 story
There seems to always be so many opinions on the break in period, whats funny to me is when the manual states 1000 or 2000 miles, and the salesman at the dealer tells you upon drive off, drive the crap out of it anytime, these cars like it....
I mean..... keep them revs high baby!!!!!!!!
Goodluck and enjoy!!!

The break-in period for GT3 engines is posted for the legal eagles. The engines have been tested. You are taking the correct approach. Drive it like you stole it!
Nice collection. Where did you RSA come from?

There were 2 F430s and a total of 3 runs. The GT3 won 2 out of three and in the one that it lost, it was by merely half a car. All drivers said that in a quarter mile or so, the GT3 has the F430 and its not until mid 4th gear that the F430 starts to match the GT3. There was no top speed (I am guessing topping out at around 160 mph) run, but apparently real life roll on races the GT3 and the F430 (both cars completely stock and with less than 1,000 miles on them) are extremely close (not to say dead even). I will have a camcorder ready for the next match up.

After seeing the results of the GT3 vs. F430 matchup, the owner of the 05 Gallardo decided not to run against the GT3. I would also like to add that the driver of the GT3 as well as the driver of one of the F430s (where the results were dead even) are both extremely capable drivers. The race where the GT3 lost (by half a car length) was due to a "slight jump" by the F430 driver. Bottom line: the cars are pretty much dead even, giving the GT3 some low end grunt advantage and the F430 some high end punch.

No Alan, I merely stated some facts, but trust me, if I could better manage other people's minds, I would be doing a much better job in sales than what I am currently doing!!
I actually had a chance to drive the 997 GT3 and TT variants (even one of the F430s that raced the GT3) and my "butt-o-meter" agrees with you. For short blasts, its going to be a close call. Just agree that both cars are great and that each has its specific strengths. While the Porsches are great (I own one), its not a F430. That car is sublime, yet, to me, not worth the price difference.
