08 GT3=No Sunroof?

Has this been confirmed? Since I have basically given up on an RS I have turned to maybe a plain ole boring GT3 . I am however concerned at the rumors I have heard that 08- GT3's will have no sunroof (or a delete option). I am worried the resale on an 07 will be hurt pretty bad if this were to happen...

So has this been confirmed or is it just rumors?
Thanks,
Evan

You mean people will opt for the 08 if it has no sunroof?

Right, I am worried when it comes time to resell the 07 with a sunroof, people will prefer the 08 with no sunroof and the value of 07's will drop off dramatically

I agree......it would suck for '07 owners if the '08 has the delete option.

PS.....how much sicker can you make a GT3 look? GT2/GT3 look best stock imho.

you are overthinking it! If you like the GT3 just buy one. The sunroof isn't that big of a deal to most people. I bought one and could care less about the hole in the roof. I think the GT3 will continue to have a sunroof. I also think they will make more GT3RS's MY2008

honestly, if you're thinking about the '07 GT3 but think they'll be devalued by the sunroof, don't worry. To 95% of the people out there in the real world (not here on 6speed, but we're a niche group) prefer to have the sunroof. If it were a no-cost option, I bet the number of cars sold with the hole would far outweigh those without. To the average person, it's a sought after option and would probably be worth more than the counterpart without one. Just food for thought. Now if you intend to race the car, obviously you'd want one without, for the extra rigidity. But if it's just for spirited canyon drives, open up the hole and enjoy the fresh air.

Short term, the cars with a sunroof might be worth a little more to some people. Many years from now the cars without a sunroof will be in much more demand. They will be bought by real inthusiasts and will be worth more. IMO.

The GT3 RS got by without a sunroof because its a limited production model, fewer cars made. Porsche would need to crash a few GT3s without a sunroof to get them certified.

Then again, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but it sounds right.

typically sunroofs help resale value but i guess for a car like the gt3 its the other way around

I'd be more concerned about the upcoming 997 changes (I'm guessing they're due in '08?). The new tail lights and whatnot.

Forget the sunroof (although I strongly prefer the headroom and no hole), but what about the DFI (Direct Injection)? Will they be offering the DFI for the GT3 engines, or is this just for the "lesser" porsches?

Couldn't that squeeze a few more HP out of the current GT3? Aren't they also planning on going to the 3.8 liter engine like the new 997 GT3 Cup Cars?

3.8 liter engine with DFI...that could potentially be a big gain over the current GT3 setup, or is this just wishful thinking?

You can see more information about the DFI and DSG planned for Porsches here:
