As opposed to claiming a given level of performance without any kind of numerical evidence? I'll leave that to the Honda kids.

A claim was made that there's a massive performance difference between a GT3 and a 355. My experience has shown this not to be the case. Your mileage may vary.

Quick search on 996 gt3 forums reveals routine 350 rwhp+ dynos.

Talking to RUF some time ago, 997S have gotten 310 rwhp and 996 GT3s in the 360 range. Anyway, having had a 996 GT3 and the 355s successor, the GT3 is w/o a doubt in another league in terms of performance, whether straight line or around a track.

As has been said time and time again in this thread, the 355 is more about the total experience rather than raw performance.

My personal opinion is that you'd be taking a step down with either the F355 or 360. The only move that would make any sense would a F430.

i have both and Im thinking of selling both to buy a new cgt. but no doubt they are both good cars.if only I could keep them all. regarding service all ferraris prior to a 430 even the 360 are high maintenance. its part of owning a ferrari. but the 355 is known to be the last hand made ferrari like the 993.

All of the 996 GT3's I've seen dynoed are in the 320-330 range, 332 being the best, on a Dynojet. I'd love to see the atmospheric numbers and correction factors for your run, as your car appears to be making over 40 horse more than any 996 GT3 I've ever seen in stock trim.
Well dyno-jet's are NOT what I consider an accurate dynometer. The mustang Dyno is the reference standard for chassis dyno's. As I said, stock I was at 348 rwhp and later after some mods (exhaust/filter), 372 rwhp. Your figures are way off...the 355 is significantly underpowered when compared to the 996 GT3.

The dyno's were conducted at one of our most reputable sponsors on this board....AWE Tuning.

I agree, the Mustang dyno is a true loading dyno rather than the inertial dyno of Dynojet. I've dyno'd various cars on 3 different dynojets, and found a not insubstantial spread in numbers.

The Mustang dyno appears to be much more consistent and accurate.

The only Ferraris I would even put in the same sentence as a GT3 is a 360 CS or a 430. Period. End of story.
I did a track day at Buttonwillow a few years ago in my 360 Modena with 3 or 4 996 GT3s and had no trouble running very similar lap times. Not bad for a piece of trash.

I still dont even understand how we are talking about and comparing a 355 Vs GT3 in straight line performance, or even track work?!? Its beyond me, they are in different leagues clearly!

2 completely different cars

porsche = daily driver, boring car, fast not pretty
ferrari = passion, sound of engine, smell of the car etc

ferrari 355, the whole experience that makes it a good car...dont buy it because you want a fast car.

I do think that the GT3 is boring (looking) relative to the Fiat. Doesn't possess the voluptuos lines of the fiat, and the 911 sillohette is common. But certianly not boring to drive.
