You make a good point. As I was leaving a store a gentleman was admiring my 430 Spider. He told me he is a long time Porsche guy though he has been trying to buy a 430 Spider but without success. He pointed to a 997TT and told me it was his.

I told him it was a nice car and his exact words to me were "Oh your being kind. I know it is ugly but what else am I going to buy?" Your point is well made.

I don't think anyone would buy this story, especially in April

Try again next month

Hard luck...

No way it will be cheaper than the 996 version. When does Porsche sell more/newer for less?

There is not $81,000 difference in the two cars

The Z06 or SS I order next year will come in anywhere between $56,000 to $100,000. The SS will beat any car on this continent except (maybe) the Bugatti Veyron.
No wonder you are looking at $40k+ depreciation on the GT3. You optioned it up like $27k! Everyone knows options retain virtually no resale value.

I will be the last to say Porsches are good investments, but your depreciation figures are a little skewed by the options heaped on the GT3.

As for the SS being faster than any car on the continent...I wouldn't go hunting for pinks. There are lots of cars capable of going very fast out there.

From my perspective, your wife has the best car in your stable. (Okay, I do like GT3s...)

When the GT2 comes out I wonder if the X50 will be available for the turbo?

Let do the math. $8,840(brakes)+ $122,900(base)+$18,000(X50)=$149,740 minus the front wheel drive and center diff =$133K. This price makes perfect sense to me .

Nice math, proves how much of a Cash Cow the GT2 is for Porsche, not to mention the additional mark up over MSRP that the dealers will surely be tacking on until the market softens.
