I would go with the CS because while yes, it is more "exotic" it is also a car that has been appreciating in value lately. The new GT3 is certainly a more modern, up to date equivilant, but it is not as breath-taking as the Ferrari.

Now, if you are planning on using the car exclusively as a track car, I would honestly say the Porsche is your best bet just because of maintaince costs. If it is a combination of both road and track, the CS is for me! It just has the wow factor that the Porsche doesn't have.

Yeah nice try.
The 380HP GT3 matches or beats a 420HP CS. Don't get me wrong, it looks great and the exhaust sounds awesome.

To each his own though. PCH, I'm sure you enjoy every last drop out of your CS, but to keep everyone on the same page, the truth is the CS doesn't outperfrom a GT3 the way its specs say it should. Period.

You can always get a GT3...if choosing between those two, don't pass up an opportunity to own a legend -- CS all the way.

That said, I'd rather have an SE than a CS. I share your pain, however...once you decide exactly what you want in a Gallardo, it becomes impossible to find... If I can't find the G I'm looking for, I think a CS might be a fantastic consolation prize...

PS: How many miles on the CS? Is it the one listed on Roy's site?

The CS is going to be a classic. Even though the gt3 is an astounding car, I'd definately go for the CS. Its starting to level out in value and people are speculating that its value will go up in the future. It has an exhaust note to die for. CS!

thanks for all your opinions We are all car nutz here that's for sure!

You guys all bring up valid points of arguement and honestly those are the EXACT things I'm thinking in my head right now:

1) Resale value
2) Warranty issue
3) Garage queen or can actually take on road trips
4) WOW factor
5) Reliability (goes with warranty I guess)
6) Weekend exotic vs. daily driver (I have plenty of those already...haha)

wish I can own both but sadly just buying one is all I can handle....

I have yet to ride in a CS or hear the exhaust note so that might just push me over - where can I hear one of these bad boys or possibility go for a ride?

The GT3 hands down. I find the CS to be uninspiring.

The 997GT3 has 415hp, if I'm not mistaken.

It really depends on the type of person you are. If I could afford the upkeep and ok with not driving it everyday, I'd get the CS. If I want a fully useable car with the piece of mind of a warranty, I'd get the Porsche. Basically, the Ferrari is a hobby for those who can afford it, the Porsche is an all out sports car that you can actually use and not worry about breaking down. If money is an issue, get the Porsche. If not, get the CS.

You said you have a client who is selling one, I would think that would be a good place to start.

The CS is a amazing car, in fact one of my favorite. It is a humbling experience hearing one run around a track. However as you stated probably not the car for you, nor me even though I would love to have one also. The GT3 is a great car also, probably faster too and definitely a more driveable car. But as you stated, at the end of the day a gallardo se would be my first choice which it is just an awesome all around car.

Ultimate compromise, white GT3 RS!

Stradale
I certainly wouldn't kick the CS out of the garage, but I'm with Eddie on this one.

I'm getting a 997GT3 (May delivery), but no way would I trade my CS for it.

To the guys who think the CS is a garage queen that is constantly requiring upkeep, thats a bunch of garbage...can be driven daily and loves to be flogged.

To the ones who think it uninspiring, well, thats just an opinion, but you are in the minority.

I am sure that most naysayers would change their minds once they had a chance at some seat time in a CS....the ones that don't, probably wouldn't be inspired by anything.

There are a few cars quicker than a CS, but as a complete package it is hard to top and hard to quantify. I find it nimble, fantastically chuckable, tremendously satisfying to the ear, reliable, and well built. It is as enjoyable driving as it is standing still and admiring it.

To answer the original question, you will get many responses. From one that has driven both, I would not trade the CS for 997GT3...I would be giving up too much fun !
