Thumbs up 997 GT2 - at last......

Just received from Porsche GB...

Subject: Porsche GT2

Good afternoon Mr Foster-Taylor,

We have had news from Porsche about a forthcoming model, which we can only imagine is the GT2. What they have told us is that they will be writing to all customers in the near future who have submitted letters of interest on this particular model to offer you the opportunity to submit a deposit, so you will be hearing from Porsche shortly.

Please do not hesitate to call me in the meantime if you need any further information.

Kind regards,

Will be interesting to see what the official release dates are - assume UK and Europe will be first in line, wonder how soon the US will be getting cars. Pretty daft given I assume pretty similar safety regs in each market nowadays and the fact that the UK is a RHD market (but I'm not complaining!)

the rear looks really cr*p i'm sad to say...

compare how busy and unresolved the rear end of the 997 looks, compared to its predecessor. now knowing porsche, all those slats are probably there for a reason. but i've always believe that form follows function, and if something is designed right, it also looks good... oh well...

and the 996:

996GT2 still is better looking at this point AFAIC. Maybe Porsche will has still to make changes until the official release, but those slats in the rear end.... well they look cheesy to me.

Looks like the vertical slats are here to stay. I think that this is gonna be a very popular car to have an aftermarket rear bumper. I think the side slats would be much better with the horizontal bar like the 996 version and those slats near the exhaust pipe need to go.

I don't care for the vertical slats ... but then again ... I can't afford one ... so who really gives a **** what I think.
