997 GT3 Sway Bar settings

I'm currently preparing my car for the first DE of the season - Summit Point and Watkins Glen. Any advice on sway bar settings? I know that the car came with full hard in the rear and one position from soft in the front. From my basic understanding of the dynamics involved for at least neutral driving characteristics versus understeer - do I want to "soften" the rear by one notch and set it for the middle setting instead of full hard?

Thanks

the opposite.. harder in rear/front means less grip there

so softer in the rear means more grip there, i.e., more understeer

Do you recommend that I soften the rear slightly to gain some more grip? I'm on full stiff now in the rear.

that will give you more grip in the rear which means more understeer so do
that if you feel it's oversteery ..to reduce understeer you would make the front softer(more front grip)

leave it as is, drive it on the track and then make changes based upon the way it handles for you.

Sway Bars

I currently have the "street" alignment settings from the factory and feel that after a few hundred miles the car will have settled enough to adjust the alignment for the track. How does this influence the sway bar settings? I don't mind more grip in back and sharp turn in up front. What would be the best combination for tracks like the Glen? I don't want to be slapping the ARMCO going up the essess. When I ran in my C4S I just planted the throttle and gently "leaned" into the turns - never giving much steering input - never soiled my pants either. With the GT3 - would I be better off with a slight push as opposed to a tail slapper? Would this be better accomplished with a soft front sway bar and medium rear?

On another note, I don't fully understand WTF PAG is thinking with the sway setup. I check Saturday: Full stiff in the rear and one off full soft in the front. That's nearly the max oversteer setup. I would have thought the opposite from the factory.

Anyway, I'll get the track alignment done, rotating the front camber plates and drive the hell out of the car and see how things go. I'm tempted to soften the rear bar to the middle setting with all the reports of the happy rear end in these cars.

I am curious to see what other's factory sway bar setting have been. Did anyone's come with different bar settings from the factory?

Frayed, do keep us posted, as I am very interested to hear how it goes.
Thx, Jay Putnam.

right now I'm at -2.3 up front, -2.5 rear. 0 toe front, rear is as per manual (can't remember offhand).

Need to get back to the track to test out the new settings. Will report back after.

Will any of these alignment/sway bar changes improve street driving or is the track the only place where they'll be appreciated?

Is the steering feel improved?

I know an aggressive alignment on a primarily street driven GT3 will incorrectly wear the tires, but what changes can be made to a street car? TIA

for street I would stick with the factory specs.

generally speaking, aggressive alignments tend to degrade steering feel imho.
