Paul,
Nice choice, I hope your back feels better and you are able to enjoy this as much as your Manthey GT3. Would be interested in your impression of the differences. Who's the lucky owner of the Manthey?
Drive in good health

D Uber Alex in Chicago got it
as far as difference its much better on my back. I have an appointment at cedar Siani next week so maybe that will help too. The Manthey was a monster-I dont know that the 997 feels faster. The 996 was all race car in feel-the 7 has all that and feels more comfy and not so nervous. Its a nicer ride on my back thats for sure as long as I leave it out of sport in PASM.
I havent had a chance to take a cruise through a canyon yet. but it does feel more planted.

I don't agree with slippery wheel. I love the wheel and shifter in my GT3. I think it gives a more positive grip. I have the thicker wheel in my C2S cab and perfer the alcantara.

The steering wheel is an easy upgrade; funny- I prefer the shifter I had in my 997 over my 996. The entire gearbox as a whole is slightly more vague, plus I like the feel of the **** better. To each his own I guess!

Gotta hookup one of these days, would love to check out your new 3. Porsche Parade maybe? I' plan on attending the Porsche Paddock on July 2nd.

Congrats again, enjoy it!
The carbon shifter feels right on this car. Better than the stock shifter IMHO.

When i sat in the GT3 the clutch does feel super heavy. Is it really bearable?

How is the ride with PASM?

The clutch IS heavy compared to my LWFW in the 996GT3
I havent had a chance to do the PASM sport I leave it in normal around town.
I am going to the village coffee roaster in calabasas for Euro Sunday tomorrow I will try it on the way down.

I know the interior is a big upgrade but since you had owned a 996GT3 does the 997GT3 feels like the stronger performer. I'm just trying to justify spending the extra 30K+ for the 997

GTR I know what you mean I had 996 that was decked out and this 997 is not but just as nice inside without all the full leather I DO miss the carbon goodies. but I can do that aftermarket I guess.
As far as your question the 996 was a manthey and a monster. this feels equivalent but more in control if that makes sense Since my 996 was so hopped up I would imagine the 997 would have been a BIG step from a 996 stocker.Zat help?

clutch in RS is as heavy as non RS.
lwfw will not soften up the clutch feel.

Hmm the 996 was lighter with the LWFW -I might as well wait till I need it to upgrade then.

Sure, Jamie mentioned he wanted to go to Cayuga... I think I may have seen you beforethough . The first and only GT3 I saw in this area was not long ago downtown Toronto. I'm not sure how many white ones are in the area.

My experience (limited as it is) is that suede on suede contact provides great if not superior contact. Given that the 3 is designed for tracking, makes sense (to me) that alcantara material is used in those locations.

Can others here verify if what I am saying holds water, or am I just talking out of my ****? My kart wheel for instance was suede and with bare hands felt non-condusive to the rigors of karting, but with the gloves felt just right. Great tactile feel with NO slippage.
I agree with you. The alcantera wheel on my GT3 feels kind of slippery with bare hands. The more I drive it, the more I wish it had regular leather there. I would not want to do a track day with the alcantera wheel w/o gloves. With racing gloves, it works fine.
