2008 GT3 "Above MSRP Premiums"
997 Gt3
These discussions make me laugh. It's just a car. If you're not going to buy it for the pure enjoyment of driving a precision German instrument, then I'd probably consider passing. My 997 GT3 has been a daily driver since the day I drove it off the dealers lot. My daily drives include rain, snow, dirt, tar, bumps and yes of course, multiple track days at Watkins Glen, Summitt Point, and Pocono. I have stone chips on my windshield, chips on all my fenders and door panels, and have been thru three sets of brake pads and two sets of rotors. Please, for all our sakes, just buy the car and drive. Just enjoy! The car is going to depreciate no matter what you do - at least you can have some fun while it's happening.

some folks have short memories. remember the guys paying $180-190k when the 996TT first came out?but if you don't care about money and taking a bath on it, go for it.
I guess this is just more of a commentary on the greed of dealerships, and the knowledge that there are people out there willing to pay for the privilege of owning the brand new RS.
Anyway, I'm not going to go anywhere near that "offer" from the dealer....
Thanks

I think the move will be to pick one up in 3 years or so, when the initial depreciation hit has been taken and when the sports car market is cooler in general. Over the long run I think the prospects for this and the basic GT3 look pretty good, as it sounds like they may end up being the last of the hot 6 cylinder 911S. I'd look at the 993 RS as your guide for what the values will do over time, as that was the last of the hot air cooled cars. I agree, that the 50k over (and more) will be gone in fairly short order, though...
