2008 GT3 "Above MSRP Premiums"
2008 GT3 "Above MSRP Premiums"
My local dealer "offered" me a GT3 RS for 2008 at a $50,000 premium....
Is this "just the way it is".....
If so, is this car going to be worth more than $190 or so that it would cost???
Is this a collectible or am i just a sucker for paying $50k to "have one"
Is $50 average, low or high???

Thats average mark up for this car. Is it worth it? Depends on your tolerance for pain. In a couple years price may go down and you will stress and potentially press the panic button and sell for a loss. If you make it through this cycle most likely the values will go up. Plus if you drive it get ready to take the shaft in the shorts but if you park it in the garage then your okole will never fell the depreciation shaft. Who knows and who really cares because it is just money and a car. When you die you cannot take your car and your money so you should buy the car...lol

I have confidence that Porsche will continue to improve their cars - make them faster, lighter, handle better, more fuel efficient, etc. etc. That means however great the RS is, there'll be something better coming down the pipeline - flat 8?, direct injection?, twin clutch trans, etc. So I don't think the $50K over is worth the price of admission, nor even $30K over is. When those new tecnologies come out in '09 and beyond, I, for one wouldn't want to be holding on to an $180K '08 RS (my cost) when a better replacement can be had for a lot less. Don't buy a car thinking some day it will have some collector's value, if you want to recover your investment, call your financial adviser, not your car salesman. This is an advise from me who just happens to be a CPA and a car nut.

Its just greed.
Not really thinking it would actually be worth more. How much can you get a 73 RS for now anyway?
Sage advice...

I agree with Jamie, porsche has a history of making 10 more cars then they have buyers for in the long run and killing any type of value in the limited editions because they are not limited, 1000 cars is not a limited build car, 10 is.
