GT3 coolent hose blew again for second time.

This time it happened at different location. Just replaced one 3 weeks ago. Anyone know any aftermarket hoses? Does Samco make any applications for 996 GT3s? I was having so much fun (average of 1:48 per session and 1:41 being fastest; everything stock) then car created a total mess leaving one spec S2000 spun. Pretty close call for Ferrari F430 and 996 TT too.

Rob, I don't know how to call it. It's the rubber one that come out of coolent retainer ovefill. Also, the pressure release valve (a black cap on top of blue cap in the picture) also sprayed all the coolent over the engine too. You can barely see the hose. I'll post up the part number again once I get back from the dealer.

I was just reading this a night before and it happened. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...d.php?t=363915

Ken, maybe there was a bad run of hoses when your car was built...I have had several 100+ degree days at Buttonwillow and then drove home in 100+ heat (2hrs)...with no leaks or hose problems...might be a good precaution to change out whatever hoses you can...sorry for your bad luck and glad you didn't spin in your own coolant...

People from europe are having the same problems as far as I know so bad run of hoses might be the answer.

Unfortunately, yes. My friend also mention it is also appears to be the reason behind. But, I was thinking there would be a noticible increase in engine temp (even if with the closed valve) before any blew ups.

After the first blew up, all the coolent were gone so I'm pretty sure they reflushed it. Is there anyway I can tell dealer repressurized the coolent system properly? I will call Samco and find out about their GT3 specific products because I really want to take care of this so that don't have to worry about myself and other.

Reflushing the whole system takes a whole day. Don't quote me on this but once new coolant is in drive for 30 minutes with pressure valve closed then let sit for an hr with pressure valve open then top off when necessary then keep doing this for 4-5 times. U should check out Loren's site renntech.org for a detailed account. I can tell u if u wanted dealer to do it and nothings wrong with coolant system I wouldn't doubt they say no need to. Did I say its a PITA. Good luck. Mike

Sucks to hear about the hoses, at what points are they popping off? Are they the quick disconnect lines? If they are hose clamps are they the pinch style or the screw style? Also, if the dealer is filling the system it doesnt take a day, its a pretty quick and simple procedure with the proper tools. Hopefully you can get it figured out for yourself and others.

Mine blew apart too and spewed coolant everywhere in 100 degree plus temps after an afternoon of hard driving. here's the part number for that hose- 996-106-501-76 "Coolant Hose".

I have a spare one that I keep in the car. Might be a good idea for other owners as well.
