It sounded pretty plug and play. The X51 997s engine is an easier swap. Since the cayman/boxster engine architecture is very similar.
Fitting a GT3 street or cup engine would be much more difficult.. Certainly more involved.

So if you buy a cayman for $50k plus a cup motor for $55k plus add cup suspension, exhaust, etc for $30k plus figure install on the whole deal at $25k. You are now the proud owner of a $160k cobbled piece that may beat a $120k brand new car with full warranty. Sounds like a deal!

But the 964 crankcase of the GT3 and of course the crate engine price makes it impossible without a lot of fabricating so we can just dream..
I just wish porsche used more elements of that engine for the non GT cars. Like dry sump... The Carrera/boxster engines are not bad but the GT3 one is a true gem and I would like to see that combined with the IMO superior mid engined platform of the Cayman.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a GT3 but fundamentally the Cayman is far superior platform to build from.
I completely agree with Gabriel, a GT3 motor, full suspension/coilovers alone may be enough. Problem is Porsche will never build it and why they won't is the end of this comparison.
