Do it, let me go for a spin, and then I'll reply. 
It'd be too much. The beauty of the R8/G is that it's an exotic you can drive everyday. Adding some turbos and doubling the HP just takes some of that away. Reliable or not, I wouldn't be willing to drive that everyday anymore. But with 500hp or so, I think the R8 would be damn near perfect.
Wish I could afford the V10. Or hell, the V8 with a few simple upgrades. Or hell, a stock R8. Or hell, an RS4. Or hell, an A3.
