ESP warning light?

I just bought a late '05 egear Gallardo with 5K miles on it. I noticed that the yellow triangle warning for the ESP came on and didn't do off after 2 seconds. The book says it could be a problem with the ESP or antilock brakes. Another person told me that if the brake pads are low, it can make that light come on or if there is a brake sensor wire not working it can give you that signal as well. Probably going to get it to the nearest dealer 2 hours away, but someone told me to have the brake pads redone at a local shop.
Any suggestions?
