6 Speed SL
Hey guys. Thanks for all the input. I must be honest I think the Lambo egear is ****. I have driven it, and compared to a ferrari it is horrible. I was talking with kevin at UGR and he was saying sometimes on the egear cars the shift solenoid is an issue. I agree with all, if your a real driver, manual is a real drivers transmission. Its just unfortunate a 14k Honda Fit is paddle shift these days!
You can put a shift button anyplace. what is sad is that the DSG trans in my 32k vw is far more high tech than the e-gear or F1 in lambos and ferraris.
Its the reason I HAD to have a 6spd in my Gallardo. While the DSG has made a believer out of me that I can enjoy driving with 2 pedals and 2 paddles, the e-gear is not advanced enough. The dual clutch dual shaft system of the DSG shifts almost 10X faster than an Enzo. Thats really got to sting lol. Though I believe Ferrari tried a dual clutch system in a race car in prototype format a while back but it never quite got dialed in.
With the power levels UGR is pushing with there TT kit, I personally would never even consider an E-gear car and the associated headaches involved. Most if not all cars handle huge power increases much better with a manual transmission vs an automated manual.
6speed always if it's going to be your project car. I can fully appreciate auto/tip for a DD and sitting in traffic going 13mph.
But there is nothing like rowing through a full set when out on a drive, DSG/DCT/R-tronic etc etc are amazing pieces of technology no doubt. Yes Ferrari's new F1 boxes are out of control fast and fun, but give me a choice, and I'll take 3 pedals over 2 any day of the week for a project car. And lets be honest, trying to park anything with a true AutoManual is just one solid annoyance.
